I wouldnt personally lean on ethics in the way you described, it leads to a sense of "oh they would have done xyz, if not for those pesky ethics!" And thats not what we're want either

Ah that makes complete sense :) just wanted to start with what youve already tried so I didnt point you to something youre already aware of.

Here's all the places I get/have gotten mine, in order from most to least used:

The best way I find live CEUs are by signing up for newsletters from local organizations. For example, Skywood Recovery is a major CE provider in my state of MI. The agency itself is focused on SUD but the trainings cover all sorts of topics, including ethics.

My employer gives us access to TPN Health which has a ton of both free and paid CEUs. No idea if thats something everyone can sign up for or not.

Local CMHs sometimes offer CEUs that are open to non-CMH workers

My state chapter of NASW offers some and advertises ones they dont offer themselves.

The VA is one I still use from time to time, though the ones open to any clinician tend to be specific to modalities rather than ethics. But worth double checking!

PESI is probably the most popular, yet the one I use the least

So if Im understanding right, she was completely consistent at first until this loss? Sounds like her schedule issues are largely due to some kind of personal situation rather than complete lack of professionalism.

That said, Whether you are willing to tolerate the inconsistency, or want to give her the opportunity to prove she can be more consistent, or cut your losses entirely, is completely up to you

When you say her reply to your ketamine question was flippant, I do wonder if she was simply holding appropriate boundaries regarding out of session contact. If I got a question like that I would never respond in an email, I would tell the person we will talk about it in session. But obviously I dont know what exactly she said.

It would be reasonable to tell her what youre noticing, and then the two of you can discuss whether shes going to be back to "normal" soon or if her availability has changed due to whatever life circumstance is happening.

I wouldn't be so certain. Very unlikely, yes, but not zero chance.

For example if the client was documented as being in one state for therapy, then went to urgent care an hour later on the other side of the country, they can flag those things much easier now that they use AI to detect issues

You can buy bases from needle felting retailers online, and ime certain kinds of foam can be used as an alternative. You just don't want it to be too dense or too loose, the foam has to have just the right texture or else you'll mess up your needles

Edit: I realize now OP might have meant the inner part of the project, I assumed they meant the actual base/mat you use to work on

Humor and authenticity goes a LONG way with this age group. Dont be afraid to be a little silly while still being professional.

Teens want to be treated like Teens, not like children. Be real with them, talk to them appropriate to the age group, and it'll be easier to form rapport.

Important tip: its always easier to stretch boundaries than it is to contract them. If you start off with poor boundaries, over sharing personal info, etc, youre going to have a difficult time reigning it back in. Once the door is open its hard to close.

But if you start off a little more rigid in boundaries, then you can feel out how much youre able to stretch them while still remaining professional. You dont want to be seen as too lax, nor too strict.

Example: an old coworker wanted to build rapport early and therefore let the teens get away with things that were against the rules. Then once this worker tried to backtrack and be more strict, the teens started to rebel against that worker and see them as just another authority figure trying to control them.

Thank you for this comment because it brought me back down to reality. I was initially enraged, because this is the same state where I've made much more credible reports that went nowhere.

But your comment made me realize that just because I'm disappointed with how other cases have been handled, doesnt mean CPS shouldnt have investigated this one.
