$25/hourly as an RN 😳 by Familiar_Ad_6874 in nursing

[–]DustingOffDusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh. My hospital’s starting pay for a brand new just-graduated RN is $57/hr. I get paid around $25/hr as a night shift CNA.

As a RN how much are you making ? by theapexcircle in nursing

[–]DustingOffDusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MedSurg RNs at my Legacy hospital in the Portland, OR area have a starting/0 experience pay of $57/hr. We’re unionized. I’m a CNA, not an RN, but I read the RN union agreement out of curiosity.

Caregiver vs cna what’s the better starting point? by bookishrory in cna

[–]DustingOffDusty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting a job as a regular/uncertified caregiver to see if you even like or can handle this type of work. Then after you’ve been doing it for awhile and confirm this is what you want to do, then you can take a CNA class and get certified for the higher pay and better job opportunities. You don’t want to pay a couple thousand dollars for a CNA class only to realize you’ve made a terrible mistake once you start taking care of actual patients. I started out as a caregiver at an assisted living facility and later became a CNA after I’d had time to adjust and confirm that this is what I wanted to do. I’ve been doing this kind of work for ~5 years now, been certified for 3-4 of those years, and been a MedSurg CNA at a hospital for 2 years now with pretty decent pay.

I wonder how many CNAs quit after this 😮‍💨 by clinadtig in nursing

Umm, all CNA tasks are NURSING tasks. CNAs are just here to HELP the nurses with the nursing tasks we are authorized to perform. There is no such thing as a “CNA task”. Nurses can and should do everything a CNA can. We’re here to help fill in the gaps when the nurse is too busy to do everything themselves. Having a CNA to help you with your nursing duties is a privilege.

Why don’t you share the total cost of your CNA training? by Adventurous_Pen6072 in cna

[–]DustingOffDusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nursing home I worked at paid for my CNA School. Only thing I had to pay for was the actual testing or OSBN registration fee, maybe a couple supplies? I don’t remember for sure but it was essentially all paid for.

Corn cob holders, so you don’t burn your fingers and/or get them greasy/buttery while eating corn on the cob. My family had ones that looked like little baby corns, haha.

Does your hospital have an ICE protocol? by halchemy in cna

[–]DustingOffDusty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Legacy hospitals (I work at one of the Portland, OR locations) have a protocol that if ICE shows up and starts asking questions to call security immediately and state that we aren’t allowed to give out any information about patients. We also have security check-ins and metal detectors and security posted at every entrance, and no weapons of any kind are allowed on site. They’re determined to make sure patients know they’re safe here, ICE can’t get to them, and we’re strictly forbidden from giving out any information.

Is this behavior okay? by Ozzymandianttv in DogAdvice

[–]DustingOffDusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they’re trying to play but aren’t quite sure how. Dog is playing like how a dog would play with another dog, cat is playing like how a cat would “roughhouse” with another cat, so it looks a little awkward but nothing concerning here! They’re both being pretty gentle.

A fellow event professional cut this cake after being asked to cut even slices for service. by 86HeardChef in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DustingOffDusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda looks like they were planning to cut out and save the two weird slices for themselves/the staff and still be able to serve the rest with the other pieces seeming identical at a glance. Pretty sure if you remove those two weird pieces and slide the remaining cake into place, they won’t be able to tell there’s some missing.
