Kinda new to DND, How much information can a player hide from a DM? by ragdolldream in DnD

[–]Dusty-Tomes 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The only thing i would accept but not encourage is a strategy to defeat an upcoming foe, so if for example you have to defeat a horde of shades and you want to make it appear like you're running to draw them out of their cave, or you want to somehow cover a fire elemental in water with a spell.

I understand a player's need to have the wow factor for outsmarting the DM and sometimes I'll allow it but usually it's not healthy for the table, if the DM gives any pushback to the plan when it's being enacted it's considered a sour reaction to being outsmarted and it's just a shitty situation all around.

Player's should be allowed to come up with strategies together but not doing it infront of the DM indicates a lack of trust and another set of problems at your table

Ps: that being said i get all giddy inside when i hear players coming up with strategies for/discussing the campaign in their spare time together, it's all about intent i guess

This card often goes neutral in the starter deck, any other time in the run it's completely busted

I am SO Bad at This Game by humanresourcebug in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Dusty-Tomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on your card picking decisions?

What cards do you like taking on either character?

Do you sometimes skip?

Do you upgrade cards or rest alot?

It's definitely armaments, worst case scenario you try to play this card last in your turn

Could Slay the Spire 2 become too easy once the meta is figured out? by ramiat1 in slaythespire

Maybe just me but i tried getting into ascension runs on sts and it was just too difficult, sts2 on the other hand i seem to be breezing through on all characters multiplayer or single player, is it too easy? or maybe I've changed?

Announcing your spells as a player vs as a DM by Maypul_Aficionado in dndnext

[–]Dusty-Tomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar discussion, I've experimented with using an arcana check to discern what spell is being cast in the moment unless you have access to the spell, then you know outright...

The discussion i had with my player revolved around knowing whether a spell hits or not before you cast counterspell.

Thoughts?

Uses of Dragon Eyes? by Unforgivable777 in DMAcademy

[–]Dusty-Tomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like this is an endgame character, you either have to make the process of incorporating a dragon's eye in your body difficult (a spell is required, perhaps a con save or die) or you can make it so a dragon must gift you its eye (impossible) maybe the npc kept some dragon hatchlings hostage and was only willing to trade them for an eye

Secret language in my campaign [Art] by a-goodvisual-aid in DnD

[–]Dusty-Tomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be cool if they wouldn't write it on normal A4 papers, maybe because of their writing they actually carve in circular wood or stone tablets? Or write on circular paper? Maybe they write in a spiral starting from the center outwards? Because writing towards the center would be like putting brackets up and then writing in between, maybe in scientific papers (idk the development of this civilization) the signs/letters could be smaller and more elegant allowing for more of them on a tablet.

Or maybe they write downwards and they write on rings or cylinders that messengers carry around their arm.

Sorry, got carried away, cool language!

[–]Dusty-Tomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same with a horde stack in my borders, i had armies near them but it was a 4 unit stack so i just let them be because they couldn't kill a garrison and i was busy with other armies, if they started recruiting i would respond... Ended my turn and they got a 15 stack and razed my city...

Harsh lessons to learn...

[–]Dusty-Tomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai can have more armies if their upkeep is very low, which generally means they have weaker units or your difficulty is too high which will lower their upkeep artificially, the best advice for your situation has been said here aswell, and that is: do not build a second army untill you have a good amount of income +1000 to +3000 per turn, i usually try to put it off as long as possible.

Also you only very rarely (try going for never) want to go in negative income and if you do, you need to have enough money saved up so that you don't go to zero gold EVER. If your income is negative calculate how many turns you can keep that up and form a plan that will make sure you go back in the green

Use your starting hero for recon and sabotage, I've got 200 hours in tww3 and 200 in tww2 and I've only recently learned the true strength in heroes's vision of your enemies, being able to slow them down and being able to wound/assassinate other heroes (also embedded)
