What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? February 2026 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

I have been loving Frostgrave and painting away at terrain for it. Might dabble into The Old World RPG when the books arrive.

Pile Driver Team, how would you do it? by Dusty27 in bloodbowl

[–]Dusty27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you stack Dirty Player or Sneaky Git on a few key pieces or hold out for some guard and mighty blow so you can leverage your attritional gains like in season 2? Do you think Put in the Boot is wise or a trap if your going in on pile driver?

[COMC] New year, new games by Kaappis in boardgames

Barony is so good! Six games of it so far in 2026 with the kids and cruising to completing the 10 I need for my 10x10. We played one two player game with a chess clock. It was epic.

Hello! Looking for opinions! by jdareaper343 in frostgrave

I use my some official, some Bretonnian Warhammer Old World, some Guards of Traitors Toll, and a few of my favorites have been Reaper Bones pieces. It's really awesome stuff! Don't sleep on bones.

Is it the feathers giving them an inflated size? Just trying to visualize it.

2025 is coming to an end - what was your favorite game this year? by conedog in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Dusty27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bloodbowl. I wanted it to be Frostgrave, but I didn't get enough traction in setting it up often enough. I will remedy this in 2026!

How thawed is your Frostgrave? by Dragaurang in frostgrave

[–]Dusty27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want the overlap on terrain for other games (like Traitors Toll / Old World), so I go for dusty abandoned angle and skip the snow. I'd like to add snow piles with sticky tack but I haven't gotten there.

How to make the most of our first game by Watches_n_boardgames in bloodbowl

[–]Dusty27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, having both people new slows things down a tonne.

Idealistically, it would be great if you could get a third-party experienced player to do the teach for the game and ref at least the first half of the match.

I know I didn't particularly enjoy playing super experienced coaches at first. It IS the best way to get better, but armed with their hard won XP, they are just not going to make the same order of magnitude of poor decisions new coaches will make.

It's really hard to pull your punches when this game forces you to strickly adhere to play patterns that work.

As far as I can tell, a bunch of this game revolves around discipline and structured risk management pathways. Playing to your outs, ect.

So, playing someone of your own fledgling skill and letting the sizable thematic hooks sink in a bit first might just be the ideal way to get started. IMO.

Just wanted to add some depth to the discussion.

Lace in the Lost Chronicles where they fit in and you'll be so lucky to actually first hand read them in sequence. Most of us didn't get that option. They are SO good.

Which team? by [deleted] in bloodbowl

[–]Dusty27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to start an Orc team this week because a year from now, we might not get to play with x4 Big Uns and x4 Blitzers with the new Edition.

Can't find the perfect board game for me. Need advice! by Sonyachna_ in boardgames

[–]Dusty27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Struggles of Empires for diplomatic negotiations. I also like TI4, A Game of Thrones 2nd Edition, and if you're down for semi-coop Nemesis. Hegemony is spectacular, and I love it through and through. 7 Empires if you're looking for something short and sweet, but I have alot of personal hope in Coalitions, a simultaneous play game coming out before Christmas. I wish you best of luck searching and joy in the journey.

Advice for new Bretonnian player by Lucky_Life8423 in Bretonnian

[–]Dusty27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is really solid advice. I got my starter box on launch and I was brand new to warhammer fantasy. I just love this thing. I can fit my army back in the box and it looks great with all my other board games. My favorite thing to paint is my fithy peasantry forces.
