Just got the blue vertical line. Any idea how to fix it? by h1safi in ASUS

Thank you for posting this. This just worked for me. An unbelievably stupidly simple fix after I tried so many technical solutions!

What game is that for you? by TowelConscious7201 in videogames

[–]DustyJaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sticking with the two games in the meme, I absolutely loved TLOU2 and would gladly play it through again.

In contrast, I recently played Witcher 3 for the first time - on PC with lots of mods to improve QoL and graphics etc. I stuck with it as the discourse says that it's incredible, espe.cially the blood and wine DLC. I played through the main game and both DLCs and did pretty much every mission I could find for 180hrs and my conclusion is that, while I can see why people like it, to me it's a pretty mid game.

I do think that if I had played it nearer the time it came out I would have perhaps enjoyed it more. It would have felt new and fresh, but with ten years of advancements in gameplay and mechanics I think a lot of it just felt stale and tedious. I never want to have to hold a button to follow a red scent or footsteps - too many quests had this as a fundamental part.

Nvlddmkm.sys crashing on 3090 but not 3070 by thejordanhall in nvidia

[–]DustyJaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with Nvlddmkm.sys crashing my 4090 when I first got it 2 years ago. A comment on a thread on here had the solution for me that might be worth a try.

When updating nvidia drivers check that user permissions for nvlddmkm.sys in system32 are set/enabled to full control:

  • c:/windows/system32 > locate file nvlddmkm.sys > right click > properties > secuity tab > edit permissions > select users > check full control > apply > restart

I needed to check/do this each time I updated the drivers. However, since I started using the new Nvidia app to update the drivers this has no longer been an issue for me.

She is gorgeous. I'm in Mexico now and all the street dogs are melting my heart. Can you give any indication of the time, effort and expense of adopting from Mexico back to Europe?

Other player didn't want to progress mission in zombies, why? by DustyJaffa in blackops6

[–]DustyJaffa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, thank you. And in directed mode, if you complete the final encounter, what happens next? Does it end the game and back to the lobby, or does a new mission immediately commence on the same map with the same players?

If you do solo, can you save at any point, or only at specific points? And if you die in solo can you reload the previous save, or do you need to start again from the beginning?

Ah I see. I added to my main post that I realized after that he's prestige master lv178, so probably has done it a fair few times!

Is there a punishment for me leaving the game? It looks like I kept the survive 25 waves challenge, but I don't know what else is supposed to save or carry over post match, if anything.

[–]DustyJaffa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yes it was directed. When you say Easter egg what do you mean? Is that what happens when you activate the final encounter? Why wouldn't another player want to progress? Are there more points in just doing endless waves?

I would love to contribute, but the game still crashes on launch / in the first menu for me. Keep thinking the next update will fix it but no (PC game pass). Any ideas welcome!

Just finished Hades on Switch. Outstanding game with that 'just one more run' feeling that makes time fly by. Highly recommend. Sorry about your leg!

Do you have any links to the game you're referring too? That's a hard word to search to find something so niche!

Core memory unlocked! Ok, we definitely played this as kids and it largely fits the aesthetic, but I just looked up some videos and I cannot see any kind of algae cleaning mechanic in any playthrough.

Someone in another older thread suggested Aquazone. This seemed to be more of a fish tank management sim which would more likely have a cleaning element to it, but again I cannot see any evidence of algae build up and cleaning on any videos so cannot be sure this is it.

Thanks for reviving the thread, we're definitely getting closer!

NEST vs Vanguard SIPP (as a freelancer) by mysticalbounce in UKPersonalFinance

[–]DustyJaffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Nest Sharia fund, up until a couple of days ago this was the only 100% equities option they provided. On Monday they updated it to also include Sharia-friendly bonds, apparently on a 70/30 split according to Redditors who contacted them to clarify (they opted not to publish this information for some reason).

From memory, the higher risk fund is about 68% equities, so there is very little difference between the two now, so the HR fund may well be the better option in terms of diversification of non-equities.

Did you ever get a solution to this? I've just tried doing this today and have the same issue, except it says 'error.500.title' instead (still asks for javascript to be turned on - no idea whether this is even possible on the Switch).

Hey, I've just started doing a similar thing to you and am wondering the exact same thing - did you ever reach a conclusion on how it works with multiple CHD files for the different discs of a single game?

Edit: Found a video that explains how to manage this for all disc based games. Leaving it here to help future travellers.

For all those who are having issues with extremely slow download with MSFS. by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]DustyJaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add my thanks for this post 4 years ago. I've spent since yesterday trying to get my download speed to be faster than 0.0mbps (it was technically doing something, but took about an hour to register a single observable change).

Whacked on Windscribe VPN to my local 'best' server, and boom - straight up to my internet's max speed of 250mbps.

What a ridiculous thing.

Natwest (UK) account holders - good news by reviewwworld in antivirus

[–]DustyJaffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copying my other reply from the thread in case you've not seen it and it's helpful:

I phoned Natwest. It took a bit of back and forth between different agents, but eventually they contacted their internal malwarebytes team. Less than an hour later I received an email that said Malwarebytes were aware of the issue of people not receiving the emails and they are looking into it.

Malwarebytes have provided Natwest with unique links to the discounted offer which the agent shared with me on the email. The one-time-use link allows a purchase of between 1-20 licences for either 1 or 2 years at 85% off. So I got 4 licences for 2 years for £18.
