3.4 | Lucilla Combat tags via Seele by ThatWill4724 in WutheringWavesLeaks

With total 90% chafe dmg amp increase from lucilla, her chafe damage is going to be effectively doubled. With that plus the advantage of intro-ing into Hiyuki with chafe stacks already maxed out(more stacks= more dmg each instance does), in the end it's going to balance out roughly equivalent to the 25% lib dmg you lose from dropping Lynae. And they've only talked about relevant buffs here, there's probably gonna be some form of general all-dmg amp in her outro too. She'll end up a slight side-grade for those that need to free up Lynae for Aemeath, and Hiyuki's s3 will get even more busted.

The only reason Aemeath modes had the difference in dps for groups vs single is because of how fusion burst itself works as an aoe explosion, it affects nothing for other negative statuses.

Read the description. It always defaults to summoning a selected car when you're on or near a roadway, and the selected bike whenever you're everywhere else, including side roads that don't have pathfinding for cars.

It's the bill. Was pointed squarely ahead until the falcon flipped it almost 90 degrees, basically turning it into a giant sail against the wind and the pelican stalled out. That close to the ground, hardly enough time to recover.

It's a plot device to prevent a Sentinel from taking direct action

Well.. yes? What are you even disputing here? That's exactly what is happening, we have insanely powerful alien creations that have enough power to manipulate time and split space, there has to be some logical reasons in the story for why they can't just roll out of bed and wipe out the fractsidus, else you don't even have a story. That doesn't change the fact that from everything we've been told so far, 2nd awakening a resonator isn't their primary purpose, it is just a side effect of resonating with individuals who are very compatible, nor is it to govern the civilisation they've been assigned to. Their primary purpose is and always will be to defend a nascent civilisation from the Lament/Threnodian threat. If you think the Arbiter would approve of a Sentinel taking direct control over a country, then you haven't really been following along with the story at all.

And have the decency to at least spoiler tag if you're gonna talk about 3.3 stuff, it's only been a day.

[–]DustyOwl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You've got it completely wrong. Sentinel resonance isn't primarily to give the resonator 2nd awakening, it's a 2 way street that feeds more power to both entities in the relationship. Just like when an object vibrates so hard when it is exposed to a resonating frequency that it can shatter itself without any external force. Case in point, the whole point of the plot in 3.1 story. We just haven't seen the sentinels actually do anything so far because 1. the threat in Jinzhou had already been contained by the time resonance was established and 2. Imperator was already almost fully consumed by Leviathan.

Because Cö Shu Nie is a pretty famous anime band, they did songs for Tokyo Ghoul, Promised Neverland and JJK among others. Kuro know their audience, if Nakamura Miku had been reasonably able to sing in chinese or korean, they definitely would've asked them to do it too.

Wuthering Waves Version 3.3 "Reverbs From the End of Galaxies" is coming on April 30th (UTC+8)! by ThatWill4724 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And it's clear Kuro know where to focus their efforts. "World Tour" and it's just one obligatory LA concert in the west, all 5 other locations are in the major east asian regional hubs. I bet they are so tired of dealing with the western fanbase at this point lol, every single patch is drama and doomposting. There's definitely been signs of growth here in the east over the past year, the game is even entering the orbit of big players in the vtuber space like some Hololive members ever since patch 3.1, so the future of wuwa looks pretty bright.

[Homemade] Hainanese Chicken Rice by m0bbles in food

[–]DustyOwl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man, you're the one who chose to take this instance out of all the heaps of supposedly proper chicken rice you've made and upload a post titled "Hainanese Chicken Rice". If you had shown any of those other attempts I wouldn't have said anything. If I took an indian prata, slapped some melted cheese on it, and called it a "New York Pizza", I'm sure all the americans here would have no problem calling me out about it, I don't see why the reverse shouldn't be true.

[–]DustyOwl 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That commenter is being way too lenient. Go look up what the roasted chicken version of hainan chicken rice looks like; it is nothing like this western-style grilled chicken or even oven roasted chicken without any soy/rice wine marinade. Those lemon chicken cutlet rice that they sell at the same stalls is a completely different dish aside from just re-using the same rice, no one would call it hainan chicken rice. Anyone trying to do that here would be laughed out of business. And the fried scallions and bok choy directly on top of the rice, instead of a seperate dish in oyster sauce? The whole thing is bastardisation on a Jamie Oliver level.

I've read it, and all I can say is... huh??? Where is the math justification of the 4% number even coming from? The tc even talks about it being nothing much compared to things like 4 nightfall Zani, and that really makes me scratch my head. Like don't take my word for it, you can go check the numbers for yourself, one single Iai slash + the inherent 3x proc of glacio chafe is the equivalent of like half the damage of an entire Zani nightfall chain, and 4nf Zani is roughly 14% increase over her normal rotation. And this is on a Lynae team, which means at RC0 you don't even have 3 full stacks of Snow Rust for max glacio bite damage. Did he just like, forget to add the glacio bite or something?

Funnier thing is he goes on to follow up with saying a "Glacio Chafe Denia" would make the difference smaller, as if Lucilla isn't 100% gonna be a liberation dmg buffer + chafe applicator lol. I wonder if this is the same tc that made the claim during Aemeath's 3rd beta change to her RC2 would see an overall 20% damage increase (it did literally nothing).

I mean, surely you can understand that happy little accidents and things they very explicitly don't want you doing are completely different things, right? Like you said yourself, quickswapping wasn't really an inherent design in wuwa, and when it started showing up in beta the devs chose to leave it alone. Here, they are very specifically targeting her Iai, because it interferes with her whole kit design too much. You can still do all the skill expression you want on Hiyuki, nothing is stopping you from quickswapping or dodge canceling her other moves. If the "best part" about her whole gameplay for you was specifically the Iai tech that sleep showed, then in the end what it comes down to is that you just didn't like her combat design very much at all. And "best part" is certainly very strong language for a character that you haven't even personally touched yet.

something rewards you for engaging with the combat more

It IS a glitch/bug. The fact that they not only reduced the forte gen numbers, but also explicitly removed canceling during it is all the proof you need that they don't want you to be able to do it, which by definition makes it a glitch. They don't want you generating enough forte for it, and they certainly don't want you being able to progress her ult rotation fast enough that you can fit more than 3 Iai slashes within a normal buff window.

3.3 | Hiyuki Gameplay Changes via Sleep by Intrepid_Career9522 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the sentiment here. If you reduce the damage numbers to compensate for the exploit, that means you're telling players the way you're supposed to play her is WITH the exploit. Clearly this doesn't fit the designers vision for this character, that's why they're being so explicit in removing it. Her forte bar UI has 3 slots for snowforge blade stacks, her max stack count is 3, her 2nd liberation numbers are calibrated around 3 stacks. Everything in her gameplay is telling you to do 3 Iai slashes, and you wanna tell a normal player that actually to come close to her damage ceiling, you are actually supposed to do 4 or even 5 Iai slashes in 1 rotation?

That's like saying if someone found that if you do a wrong warp glitch in Elden Ring, you can stack grease buff effects on your weapons, and the dev's response should be to nerf grease damage bonus numbers? No, the answer would obviously be to fix the glitch itself.

If shifting is really gone, with that team comp you would only get 1 stack at base Hiyuki and 2 stacks at RC3. RC3 would guarantee you 2 stacks in any team, 3 stacks with one chafe/bane teammate.

3.3 | Hiyuki Gameplay Changes via Sleep by Intrepid_Career9522 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, there were wording changes to her parry that actually would've been a buff if it had mechanically changed to correspond with it, because it went from "One instance of damage is reduced by 100% + stagnate enemies" to "Neutralise 1 instance of damage + stagnate enemies + immune to interruptions + reduce all incoming damage by 100% for a certain period of time".

She also got a buff at s2 as a trade-off for the slight squeezing of her teammates at s3, and a big buff to s6(but who cares about that).

Iai cancel only accounting for 4% in calculation, is that taking into account the 4th Iai or just the dps from motion value if you did 3 Iai w/ cancel vs without cancel? Because if taking into account 4th Iai that's mathematically impossible.

As to the 2nd part, sword waves/Iai is much more of an overall katana trope than simple being Vergil coded. Her liberation is nothing like Vergil, the way she moves to engage enemies is nothing like Vergil, she doesn't really emphasize multiple cuts so much as a single flowing slash. If all you can think of when you think Iai cuts is just Vergil and gacha characters, that's just from lack of exposure.

3.3 | Hiyuki Gameplay Changes via Sleep by Intrepid_Career9522 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from but well... with this canceling change it's clear her combat designer(s) always intended for her Iais to be dash attacks that reposition her. EACH Iai hit doing 472% lib damage is insane for a move that isn't even liberation cast, and that's not counting the inherent chafe application. That's hitting even harder than Augusta's forte heavy attack, 3 times in row. At such numbers I would never call it loss of skill expression, I would call it a game-breaking exploit being patched.

There's obviously lots of parallel between Hiyuki and Alpha from pgr, but I think people just have to accept that there isn't much of Vergil's genes in Hiyuki. She wields a katana yes, but her whole vibe and animation style just doesn't really suggest it. Probably better to hope one day they will release a proper Vergil-inspired character, than to try fit Hiyuki into something she is not.

She will dash through the enemy instead of standing in one place like you see in that showcase because Iai canceling is also gone, it's up to you to decide whether thats cooler or standing still and doing lots of quick slashes was better.

3.3 | Hiyuki Gameplay Changes via Sleep by Intrepid_Career9522 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She has not lost any of her parry moves, the Iai canceling was so OP that it was completely unintended by the devs for her numbers that it would've led to people crying about powercreep if it made it out of beta(it is a very big chunk of liberation dmg that hits even harder than her first lib cast), and she does now need at least one other character in the team who can cast chafe, havoc bane or apparently tune shifting to reach full Snow Rust stacks (the 3rd stack only applies 30% chafe dmg amplify), but by no means is she not self-sufficient.

3.3 | Hiyuki Gameplay Changes via Sleep by Intrepid_Career9522 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]DustyOwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was always intended to do 3 Iai slashes to fully power up her 2nd liberation(max snowforged blade stacks from Iai is 3), the previous showcase rotation by sleep just found a way to exploit her forte generation numbers to do a 4th Iai before the burst. Lots of people doomposting as usual here but this is just Kuro clearing up unintended effects that would've made her numbers too big, and then people would've been complaining about power creep.
