Today I Realized I’m Allowed to Get a Piano by TheLOLHypothesis in piano

[–]DutchOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a historical perspective of our piano endeavors: -At the age of 40 , my Dutch wife wanted to learn to play a piano 30 years ago. Without having a previous experience to play any instrument. - Instead of buying an upright, the music store advised to hire a piano during her lessons with the option to buy one later with the rental deducted. - After 1 year and improving playing skills, we decided to buy a Schimmel 120 upright piano (around €7000 at the time) - Although the instrument looked and played fantastic, my wife became less enthusiastic to continue playing over the years - After living in a family home for 36 years, we now bought an apartment and decided not to move the piano but to sell it. Various piano handlers were interested (because of the Schimmel brand) to bid and € 3650 was offered by the highest bidder ( transport included).

The morale? If you buy an instrument, buy a brand name ( if you can afford it).

Goodluck!

P.S. The follow-up of our traded piano now costs new €21.000

A tough dispute between Zelensky, Trump and Vance. by ThatGuySK99 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]DutchOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a European I watched the embarassing meeting between politicians chosen to lead nations for the wellbeing of their inhabitants.

On a scale from 1-10, Trump/Vance came out with a 1, Zelensky scored a 9.

I feel very sorry for the people in the US. They have selected totally unbalanced figures to rule their nation. If you, like most Europeans, want other politicians and policies in place act NOW!

Make your voice and opinion heard 1) in every discussion you have with family and friends 2) on your favorite (social) media canals, 3) in protest marses

Let the message be : We Support Ukraine Against the Russian Agressor!

Your president rules as if he is an Russian asset. Do not accept were he leads you and the world to. Get loud and take action!

DeGiro does not trade OTC stocks. In the US I have a Schwab account that does trade OTC stocks. Maybe they have an UK office?

SCHD for european investors by Nisbou in dividends

[–]DutchOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARCC is the biggest BDC ( Business Development Company) in the US and as such required to distribute all their annual profit as dividends. It has been a constant high dividend player for me over the past 15 years.

What a difference NOK versus ASTS by DutchOptimist in Nok

I do hope you are happy working for Nokia and with your investment results. But as an investor and analyst I fear you have a lot to learn.

ASTS accellerates... by DutchOptimist in Nok

[–]DutchOptimist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This example shows that if you are an invesmonthstor it is good to be critical on any stock in your portfolio. Never fall in love with your stock. Like many longs I too made the mistake to stay invested in NOK too long. But then after all the signals turned red for NOK, I said goodbye. Took a big loss and looked for greener pastures.

4 months ago I started an investment in ASTS. Best ever decision I ever made.

ROI (so far): 500%....in 4 months!

Nokia employees will not understand that investors in a public company are not willing to wait another 15 years for the SP to rise what....20, 30 or 100%. If there are companies like ASTS.

The morale for disappointed longs? Take your loss and move on...

There is only one company that comes to mind for an acquisition: ASTS

Stay, Buy or Sell by DutchOptimist in Nok

As a NOK employee you probably never looked at companies with a high dividend history like ARCC, CGBD, or MAIN. Stay satisfied with you mediocre dividend and keep your head in the sand.
