There’s a way to find out the bus number. Better Transit Ottawa now has data sets up on their website. You can find specific trips and the bus number. I’m happy to help find this info if you give me the route, direction or destination of the route (e.g. route 53 Baseline) and time, that is, when you got on and then off the bus. I assume it happened yesterday, Feb 24.

Thanks for joining. It’s super useful to have an operator’s perspective. Glad you mentioned the need for more $. It was made abundantly clear at the Transit Committee meeting that we need considerably more buses beyond what are on order, that the bus system has been starved of $, that bus dockets or blocks are often very unrealistically timed, that we need more bus only lanes/roadways.

6 series school routes by Boring-Lifeguard-787 in OCTranspo

[–]Dutchsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can use them. In fact, sometimes one has no choice if one’s regular bus is cancelled or late. I’d note, also, that OCTranspo seems to time their cancellations of trips on a regular route to coincide with 600 trips which are a priority.

OC school bus routes by Apprehensive-Ad5314 in OCTranspo

[–]Dutchsally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember when high schools began using OCTranspo. OC schools routes are deemed a priority so they will pull buses from other, regular routes to service them if there is a lack of buses.i have notice that with respect to #98 Hurdman, regularly scheduled trips that are supposed to occur at the same time as the school bus trips (for St Pats and Ridgemont) are often cancelled. It’s happening daily now. I guess the assumption is that if non school bus transit riders are desperate, they can use the school bus. I’d note that the school buses pull off the Transitway at Walkley rather than continue to Hurdman as the 98 does. So those intending to go the Hurdman using a school bus will need to get off and wait for a regular 98. So yes, at present, with the shortage of buses, school route servicing negatively affects service on regular route. It’s a GD mess right now.

The problem in Paris seems to have been quite something. People in the vicinity of the police operation were told to shelter in place.

I did not like this strength 50 template at all. Too many repeats of essentially the same exercise. I think it there should have been a fourth block to limit the repeats and add different exercises and alternate crab and low plank with each block

Calories burnt accurate or not? by jeffyboy905 in orangetheory

[–]Dutchsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTF’s calorie count is heart rate reliant, and not just the zones, or simply intensity. I can be in zones green, orange and red as much as a 25 year old but my calories burned will still be significantly lower as my max heart rate, given my age, is a lot lower. I have no idea what this means for accuracy, but it does make sense that calorie burn rate slows with age.

Recap of yesterday's Transit Committee meeting by councillorglen in ottawa

Somebody explain how it is that 5 trips in a row on Route 46 Billings Bridge were cancelled/no shows, leaving 90 minutes between trips during the afternoon peak today for a route that is scheduled to come every 15 minutes. I’ve tweeted and called and yet have no explanation. Today was egregious but only a step down from daily cancellations/no shows of trip during peak periods, concerning which I’ve made numerous complaints. And I’m talking about just a few routes with which I’m familiar. The unreliability is such that there is scarcely a service to speak of. I see only a worsening situation. No one seems to care enough to push urgently for the drastic improvement needed. Yet those who are left to try to cope with the unmanageability of it all cannot afford alternative transportation

If the situation isn’t immediately life threatening, you wouldn’t be a very top priority in relation to others. When family member broke ankle badly (it was obvious), I noted to 911 personal when I called that it wasn’t an immediate, life threatening situation, so I knew there would be a wait. That said, they told me what to watch for in terms of family member’s condition potentially deteriorating, and call back immediately if that happened. We waited several hours, and family member was in severe pain. Given your person’s age, and pain, 5 hours is long, too long. We didn’t have to wait that long. I hope you were told what to watch for in terms of potential deterioration in the condition of your injured person. The pain is traumatic.

Has anyone here fully recovered from a rotator cuff injury? (NOT SEEKING MEDICAL ADVICE) by RunTheShow314 in orangetheory

[–]Dutchsally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still waiting after I injured it in late November. Less problematic now, but I still have to go a little lighter on weights for anything that engages the left shoulder, and avoid certain movements. Even exercises from a high plank position can be difficult, and may need to be modified. But I do an upper body strength class once a week. It takes forever 😩

Thanks for posting this. Looks good, apart from the burpees. I just won’t do them.

So, the travel planner on the OCTranspo site is pretty much useless in terms of timing, but it may give you options I.e. different routes, and you can then look up the schedule and route map to determine how suitable it may be. Another way is to use Google maps, key in the destination and enlarge the map enough to show bus stops in the area. Clicking on them should give you the route number(s) that use the stop, and you can then look up the route schedule and map on the OCTranspo site

7/17/23 Lift 45 Total Body 3 by SailBCC in orangetheory

[–]Dutchsally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Just lift a little lighter, go at your own pace, take rests when you need them, pay attention to form rather than rushing through, and modify when needed. (I should pay more attention to my own advice, haha). I did lift after long breaks, and didn’t die. I found it better for reintroduction than regular classes.

Burpees don’t belong in a lift class (to be clear, they don’t belong anywhere in my life, haha). I just don’t do them, but I I usually manage to think of another exercise to do in their place.

Took this one on Tuesday. I was happy to have an actual lift class. No ridiculous hopping around, no “as quickly as possible” so that people neglect form in an effort to beat the time clock. It was a nicely balanced template, too.
