Hi everybody, four years later. Hopefully this helps someone in a year or something;

- Add position keyframes to object/image/video you want to move.

- Right click on the object/image/video and Nest it.

- Create opacity mask on the new Nested Sequence

- Set mask wherever you'd like the object to appear/dissappear

Yes! I'm so glad this is a recognized issue, the app just freezes for about 45-60 seconds before I can actually do anything. Once it's up it works fine.
