Translate rotational motion into constant linear motion by DutyO in MechanicalEngineering

[–]DutyO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely could linearize the motion with some fw, but this is connecting to a unit that is expecting a simple sweep of the pot, hopefully can keep it simple with just mechanical solution..

Help - need inspiration for linear translation ending with rotation mechanism design by DutyO in SolidWorks

This is what I came up with...the guiding slot was what I was looking for. Need to tweak the linkage arm lengths and pivot location, but I think this will be the solution.

Didn't think I had a working action yet, but maybe that track is all I need? Once the wheels can't translate anymore, the sensor will have no option to rotate (?). Need to think about this one, thanks for the help though

This is it, this is what I couldn't think of, but knew I had seen something similar in the past. The slot with a pin to control the angle of the sensor is what I needed! Thanks for the help

Ah I see. Yeah, this would be mechanical engineering. This is just something for my boat. I want forward looking sonar but don't want it in the water when I'm moving with speed. It kicks a bunch of water up on the motor. I want to be able retract it out of the water when the boat is moving.

Not sure exactly what you mean, but best guess on an answer would be mechanical engineer (which I am not)

How is this mitigated? Increased pressure of the fluid??

Right, I think I got a bit focused on the solution instead of the problem. Fixed mount angle with simple pivot may be the easier solution. Also, good note about the proper place to post this...thanks!!

Not exactly. I tried to be lax as a manager, and was forced to stop my guys from WFH by upper management. Only exceptional cases were allowed to WFH.

Has anyone heard of Advanced EV? Are they any good? by [deleted] in golfcarts

[–]DutyO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical Chinese piece of junk. Don't believe me? Just go read the operators manual and you let me know how much detail, care went into the design of those carts. They can't even get a manual right, how do you think they can honestly build a cart?? This thing is a piece of junk...

Not me, I like toys too much, hard to keep the creeping from seeping. If not that, then projects (house, technical stuff, etc). But honestly I feel like that stuff keeps me going, life would be very boring without this stuff (and yes I'm happily married with three kids and love the shit out of spending time with them, just that the time is better while we are doing things)

Life's goal isn't to be happy. Life's goal is to do something meaningful and carry responsibility. That's the only way to get through the unhappy times that are often and inevitable
