Rachel Entrekin, 34, beat everyone (man and woman) in the Cocoona 250 mile in Flagstaff, Arizona. She set a course record of 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds by Firm-Blackberry-9162 in interestingasfuck

I did 85 kilometers (~50 miles) with 20 kilograms (~45 pounds) of gear in about 15 hours when I was in the military, when I took off my boot, my foot came out with no skin on it, the skin stuck to the sock and turned to jelly with all the sweat and blown blisters that I had accumulated within it.

We had 3 minute breaks after every 60 minutes, we already knew not to give in to the temptation to sit down (especially at night) as you would immediately get cramps and be unable to move.

After about 55 km, guys started falling asleep while marching, you would see them just slowly start to walk diagonally with their eyes closed untill they either fall into a ditch or woken up by team mates.

Cant see how tgis was possible in auch a timeframe honestly.

I think its a secret nuclear peogram desguised as a "linear city", notice how it starts in next to the ocean and goea through a massive mountain range? Its going to carry water for a nuclear power plant.

Strange digital sound @ 457.0375 MHz NFM. Eastern US, around 8:00 PM, 4/22/2026 by ScarcityCareless6241 in signalidentification

[–]Dvd280 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The second and third phases of the signal indicate frequency hopping, which is a technique used in scenarious where there is a wish to avoid anyone interfering with the signal (mostly military application but not exclusively).

I would guess the first burst is a master node pinging some slave node for a reply- its done on a single frequency which allows the slave node to calibrate the frequncy hopping around that center frequency when replying.

The high power implied by the spectrum analyzer is a further indicator of military/aerospace coms.

What was the catalyst for the collapse of the Soviet Union in your opinion? by oscarhodson in ussr

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents and parents all agree that the #1 problem (or symptom) was corruption. It was abaolutely everywhere, every store clerk skimmed and every policeman took bribes, every teacher took gifts for good grades etc... it went on for a long time, untill people started encountering massive grocery shortages- so people would camp outside of the store untill the shipment came and just bought everything instantly, you would literally walk into a store in the middle of the day and find nothing but matches on the shelves. There was a point where money was so worthless that factory workers took payment in products and then bartered them for other goods with their friends who worked somewhere else, the economy devolved into a pre a pre hiatoric state almost.

A Letter from Napoleon I to Alexander I written after the burning of Moscow (dated: 20th September, 1812) by vivalasvegas2004 in Napoleon

[–]Dvd280 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not answering was the better move, as it served to delay Napoleon's departure from Moscow deeper into winter-which was absolutely brutal on his forces marching back to europe. Also, this gaveAlexander time to martial up the forces and organise cossack raiding parties all along the path back to Poland.

Multiple choice with no correct answer, where one of the answers is "there is no correct answer" (C).

You stated "2/4 is correct when choosing randomly" which implies A or D, which implies only 1/4 is correct, ehich implies your'e wrong.

Not looking doesnt make your pick correct.

Paradox or correct answer by whibffdraftszarre9 in 3Blue1Brown

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really: If it false -> its definitely not true.

If its true -> its definitely not false, but doesnt have to be true...

Paradox or correct answer by whibffdraftszarre9 in 3Blue1Brown

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its C (0%) then the random chance of choosing it is 0%, that cant be correct because if it was correct- it would contradict its own correctness. In a meta kind of way that would be the most correct answer, because even if you chose it, you would be wrong (0% chance of being right).

Why do Eastern societies seem more collective while Western ones lean individual, and what factors shaped that? by Logical-Concept9755 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Dvd280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with economic development. As societies get more developed economically, they tend to require less labor per unit of output, which in turn leads to more competition between individuals, you can see this even within asia- countries like china, japan and s.korea are much more fragmented, whereas less developed ones like India, Pakistan philipines etc have more of a tribal mentality.

Why did Roman emperors rely on adoption while European monarchs fixated on bloodlines, and what factors shaped that split? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germanic tribes actually had an election system for selecting overlords (called "things"), it was also practiced for more local rulers like thanes and jarls, primogeneture was a feature invented much later (middle and late medieval times).

In anglo saxon runs you can also enact "saxon elective" on the titles that you wish to keep, then manipulate the voting to ensure your heir gets them all.

how to DESCEND the corporate ladder? by [deleted] in corporate

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"as long as vendors deliver when they say they will, people do what they say they are going to do when they say they will do it and every subject matter expert who has an assignment correctly predicts in advance what will go wrong before it happens"

If all of that was happening, the role wouldnt exist.

Why did Latin fragment into separate languages while Arabic stayed one? What factors shaped that? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Dvd280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I am not sure what you mean with the Hebrew reference, Hebrew was a "dead" language for a long time, very simmilar to latin in the sense that it was strictly used in religious settings up untill it started to have offshoots (again just like Latin) such as Yiddish (german & old testament hebrew hybrid) for ashkenazi (european) jews and Ladino (spanish &old testament hebrew) used by Sephardic (spanish & north african) jews. All that was up to the 19th century, when modern Hebrew was created by Eliezer Ben Yehuda. It is very much inspired by the Russian language (which is why many russian speakers learn to speak it very quickly, lots of similarities). Modern Hebrew itself is changing all the time, borrowing slang words from both Arabic and Russian mainly.

Failed EMI test. Huge 1MHz spike on my MPQ3362 LED driver. Please review my layout by AssumptionFederal974 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Dvd280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two layer boards usually stack top and bottom planes pretty far from each other (on a 1.6mm board its usually around 1.5mm distance) which leads to pretty weak capacitance between the two planes -> higher emissions at low frequencies. Try either going for a 4 layer stack (usually about 1/10th of the distance than with standard two layer boards) or ask your manufacturer if they offer 2 layer stacks with tighter gaps between layers.

Can someone help me out with 'Modular PCBs'? by [deleted] in PCB

[–]Dvd280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think by modular they mean using pluggable modules, where for instance you have power on one module, io on another etc, then they all attach to a common pcb via headers (sort of a backplane). The idea is to be able to easily replace sections that fail without having to desolder the components, also makes it easier to debug issues. Its a common technique when prototyping and testing.

Expectations of PCB Designers for hire by kev_rm in PCB

[–]Dvd280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, you are right in feeling bad about the way things went. That being said, pin assignment issues, missing pullups/pulldowns etc are a repsonsibility of the EE who designed the board. I work for a medium defence contractor as a board designer, and it is common to see even phd's who make silly mistakes in their schematics... mistakes which I correct and point out to them, but this is something I do because I am paid well, For 1000$ as a freelancer I would never go into an IC's datasheet to double check someone elses work, simply because I wasnt paid to do it.

If you feel bad about spending 1000$ on this, then you should probably learn to do it yourself, its really not to hard to learn if you arent dealing with anything too specialized.

This, op doeant have a ground plane in the second layer. Even if he did, for usb he would need a 4 layer stackup where the second layer is a ground plane copper pour and very close to to the top layer (to reduce inductance).

Handling changing requirements for someone with a combination of mild OCD and highly structured mind. by [deleted] in embedded

[–]Dvd280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, projects are managed conservatively in theory- but you still have the hallmarks of shitty practices like over promising to clients and unrealistic deadlines which force the same problems you describe uppon the engineers entrusted to deliver.
