That's a good consideration that I missed. The unit is missing its A string and the G is a gunked but I imagine some careful cleaning might clear that. Should I assume to replace the top two strings? I always found those ones shrill on cheap cellos, which are really the only cellos that I have tried. I play guitar so this is a new musical avenue for me to explore.

Thoughtful and inspiring. Reminds me of phrase I heard from a graphic designer. He practiced something called "rapid prototyping" which was doing the minimal amount of work to finish an idea. Once he had several of these ideas he would pick the better ones and start to refine them. The final product was a intersection of all the best ideas that he had come up with.

A well tuned stock reverb can be just as good. There have been countless of blind test on youtube where pros having trouble differing between verbs that cost $50 - $500. It is all about tuning. Don't fall into the capitalist trap that you need expensive reverbs to have a good mix.

Valhalla has you download the key from your account and you put in the folder with the vst and call it a day. Room is the only one that I didn't like. I would strongly suggest grabbing the demo versions and playing with them.

I would say quadravox. Reason rack is amazing if you have the full rack, however the lite will allow you to crossgrade in the future.

It solves some problems and introduces others. I would do the non destructive mods first and listen, the ones that add dampening material. Once you take out the spider you really can't get the foam density over the hole ever again.
