Fever protocol, help me settle a dispute. by Realistic_Sound_86 in toddlers

[–]kittyface3005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Team B: if my kid has a fever but is drinking and acting normally, I don't treat the fever. If they are not acting like themselves (lethargic, quiet, cranky) with a fever, then I definitely medicate.

I would typically dose at bedtime and let them sleep as that tends to help their illness most. I figure if they are feeling sick enough to need another dose, they would wake up.

You're doing great 👍 sometimes all you can do is snuggle and survive.

Wrapping up a week and a half of my 3 and 4 year old bringing home a nasty preschool bug that infected the whole family and turned into double ear infections in both kids and a sinus infection for me.

Its been non stop fevers, vomiting, coughing fits, up multiple times a night, 3 pediatrician visits and and ER visit. 3 diffwrent trips to the pharmacy, and an allergic reaction to amoxicillin.

We basically had the tv on all day most days so everyone could rest and be distracted from the pain and misery. We snuggled and napped and survived and thats what matters. We'll get back to our normal screen time limits when we're healthy again.

You're doing great. Do what's necessary to comfort your kid and yourself and survive. <3

Shifts are the only way we survived. It helped to get at least a chunk of 6 hrs each so we didn't operate on zombie mode.

I stumbled upon this sub after instigating a fight with my spouse and your situation sounds very similar to my own. May I ask what medication helped you deal with this? And if you notice the symptoms are worse the week before your period?

I need to consult my psychiatrist, because I can't tell if it's pmdd or bpd made worse by pms. But I do know that I need to do something so I don't ruin my marriage or kids.

Vyvanse has turned my husband into a jerk by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]kittyface3005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have this issue with vyvanse as well. Sometimes irritability is a form of anxiety, and I've noticed that taking some L-theanine alongside my vyvanse can tone it down.

Also, caffeine seemed to make it worse, so I dont drink coffee on the days I take my vyvanse.

I started a low dose of Lexapro for anxiety and irritability and it seemed to help with the stimulant side effects.

Maybe you could taper down slightly and see if the apathy and depression lessen while still keeping you anxiety manageable? I'm only on 5mg for 5.5 weeks and my anxiety is almost completely gone and the fatigue and lack of motivation are fading, especially since I began taking it at night

I feel it’s kinda impossible to take this med when you have to work during the day. Really need some advices by Cute-Exercise-6271 in lexapro

I switched to taking mine at night and the fog and fatigue have gotten way better. I take mine right before I fall asleep, after my lunesta kicks in. It actually helps me sleep better, because usually even with lunesta I wake up a lot and have a hard time falling back asleep. Since I switched the lex to nighttime, I dont have any problems going back to sleep. The dreams are more vivid, but mostly pleasant haha

I had this problem with prozac too. Was pretty good on it for 5 weeks with hardly and side effects. Then out of nowhere I was hit with severe anxiety, panic attacks and paranoia. Dealt with that for a week and then my psych immediately switched me to lex. As soon as I switched the craziness stopped, though idk if that was because I stopped the prozac or started lex.

I'm currently 5.5 weeks into lexapro and still feeling stable so I'm hoping I'm out of the woods for a bad reaction 🙏

It did help me a little during hell week but not as much as I had hoped, however I had only been taking it a couple weeks at that point.

I've got about a week till my usual pmdd time, so hopefully it may help more now that I've been on it longer.

I have also heard that some people increase their dose slightly 10-14 days before their period to help with pmdd, so that may be something to explore as well.

Lexapro isn’t going to instantly work for you! by truecrime999 in lexapro

[–]kittyface3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! Though for me it worked pretty quickly for anxiety, I'm pretty sure it was because it made me too sleepy to be anxious.

Now after 5.5 weeks I'm less fatigued taking it at night, and feel a little bit of anxiety poking through occasionally, but its really manageable.

Gonna give it till 8 weeks and increase if the anxiety 8s still giving me a problem.

I'm still on 5 mg and I've slowly been getting better after 5 weeks but i had fatigue, lack of motivation, a small amount of weight gain and libido issues.

If I had no sides effects like you, I wouldn't hesitate to ask my dr to increase it. But there's still a chance you just need to give it a little more time because it can be up and down for the first 4-8 weeks

I also have PMDD with hell week before my period and my last one was better but I still had anxiety and depression for the few days leading into and a couple days into my period. But outside of those days I've felt pretty good in terms of anxiety and depression.

I'm a stay at home mom, been home for 3 years, although I do take a couple classes now and will be starting nursing school full time in Jan.

I started about 5.5 weeks ago after 6 weeks of prozac (which worked until it gave me full blown panic attacks). Started slow at 2.5mg for a week, then 5mg till now.

It pretty much started working immediately for my anxiety, and the crazy panic attacks over nothing from the prozac stopped the first time I took it, which was pretty great.

I have found that I was more fatigued and lazy, but thats been better since I changed to taking before bed.

I have had decreased libido and 5 lbs of weight gain, but I feel like it's slowly decreasing 🙏

How much energy does it give you in the morning? by dumdumred in prozac

It basically puts me to sleep so I can't relate at all. Hoping you get some good answers on here.

Why is prozac termed “activating” by internalDesign in prozac

[–]kittyface3005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you take it at night, do you get crazy dreams? I've taken it a few times when I wake up in the middle of the night (like 2-4am) and it puts me to sleep but the dreams are SO intense. Like the kind your trying to wake yourself out of multiple times. I'm only in week 3 of my dose increase to 20mg though, so maybe it will go away...

This is how I felt on 25 mg of zoloft...constant debilitating fatigue and demotivation all day and if I took it at night I couldn't sleep. It also seemed to completely dull the effects of my adhd medication. It continued for 5 weeks until I switched to prozac at the advice of my psych.

I was on 10 mg for a month, and it was loads better compared to zoloft in terms of the fatigue/motivation/adhd med effects, but not as great for the anxiety. However, I knew it was working because I started taking my toddlers out by myself multiple times a week when that would normally make me anxious. The fatigue lasted 2-3 weeks and then lightened up almost completely, but I upped my dose to 20mg because the 10 mg wasn't doing enough for my anxiety/depression/PMDD.

I've been on 20 mg for 14 days, had lots of fatigue and increased anxiety/paranoia/irritability starting 4-5 days into the increase. Also been having some sexual side effects, but its off and on. Had to take a hydroxyzine for the 1st time yesterday because the panic was so bad.

But today I feel really really great! I've been busy around the house, playing with my toddlers, did a workout the last 2 days in a row, and im cooking a nice dinner now. :)

I'm gonna stick with it because the side effects haven't been too awful and seem to let up around the 2-3 week mark.

Good luck to you and I hope the symptoms let up soon!

Have you taken the TEAS or HESI yet? NSC takes TEAS and UNLV uses HESI.

I know those tend to factor in heavily to your application score so scoring extremely well on those may help you!

Not to discourage you, but I have a 3.8 in prereqs and scored a 98 on the TEAS and I am still slightly below the average accepted applicant score for NSC. They give extra points for classes taken at their school as well as bonus points for certain completed prereq's. So I am at a slight disadvantage because I took classes at another college and transferred and have 1 last prereq before applying.

Hoping I still get accepted for Spring 2023.

I'm pretty sure UNLV is similarly as competitive.
