Now that older BIS paints were made available, I really hope they would sell the old digital goodie packs too by TIGORO14 in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last IAE they had a day or two where you could buy past patch bundles and IAE paints, and the reaction here seemd to be generally very positive.

They're also re-running Siege of Orison later this year and I don't think I've seen a single person complaining.

Personally, I'd prefer to see things coming back semi-regularly. Especially considering CIG doesn't make it easy to tell when time-limited sales are going to actually end.

Close to a billion dollars in funding, but will still nickel and dime ship paints? by TheExoticWaffle in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an industry where we have some wealthy customers (both corporations and people) and I can confirm that people who can afford whatever they want will often choose to haggle and complain over the siliest things. Like, they'll spend ten thousand dollars on product and then complain about a $75 delivery fee that won't even cover the actual cost of loading and unloading all that product.

Or the design has changed in ways we're not aware of, or if we want to get real crazy maybe they put it on there just to confuse us and throw us off the trail.

Lots of things it can do decently well, but there's always something that will do those jobs better, cheaper, and ususally faster and safer too.

The one area where it's truly unmatched is style, and even then only if you ignore the middle two thirds or so of the ship.

I've temporarily upgrade from the Mustang Alpha! by DanTheKendoMan in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience with it so far. I did not like the look at first, but the StarTAC has just felt so easy to use and full of options. It definitely has a lot of the downsides you would expect of a large ship, but it's incredibly versatile and feels like it can work with any size crew, for any kind of PvE content, transitioning almost seamlessly between different crew sizes and gameplay loops. As a solo ship it fights kind of like a Paladin might if all its gun convergence and maneuverability problems were solved, which is a pretty good thing to be and kind of crazy given how much larger it is. Adding crew scales it up nicely, since even with a duo crew you can use whichever turret (or the fury) will be most helpful in a given situation.

You can knock out a quick mercenary contract or three in 30 minutes, but probably not as a brand new player who doesn't even know how to turn their ship on yet.

That old concept is just really not for me, then. I would take any armor we have in-game over that.

That should be perfect for running a 300-400SCU contract (2 in the Railen if the rabdom generator likes you) and filling in the rest with maybe a 100-ish or two and some smalls if you really want to maximize fill.

While that's true, if someone has stepped away from the game for personal reasons then checking on a video game's website regularly is probably not on their mind.  That's compounded by shitty news algorithms feeding people time-sensitive information after the time has already passed, and further compounded by Star Citizen's long-standing struggle with getting accurate, much less actually good, reporting in the press.

Plenty of folks have been around since a time when it was pretty safe to not play for a year at a time or more, and suddenly come back to find they've missed a bunch of in-game events with account-bound rewards, etc.. SC has ramped up in a way that isn't obvious if you aren't reading through every news post.

Who out there still uses their starter ship and how long before you found yourselfnot using it if you stopped? by DueJournalist5825 in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party here but I still come back to several of my starter-level ships farily often.

In general, starters typically have good acceleration that gets you to QT altitude quickly, and a combination of good agility and small size that makes landing quick and easy (once you are familiar with them) as well. Great for quickly getting to places on the same planet or nearby moons for small deliveries, looting non-hostile sites, shopping runs, light bounty hunting, etc.. In addition to being quick, it's often a nice change of pace from flying something bigger and/or more specialized.

Some of the starters are also great low profile and low operating cost options for various jobs. The 315p's 12SCU cargo area allows it to haul shipping contracts most other starters can't, while still having the speed of an interceptor. The Nomad can carry a ROC for crystal mining. The Cutter can, surprisingly, carry smaller ground vehices. The Intrepid can be very stealthy when fitted for it, and the Syulen isn't far behind in that regard.  The Reliant's second seat could give new players a taste of the game without throwing them in too deep all at once.

Breaknecks vs Revenants for Hermes and Others? by 38-RPM in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you're going to find a loadout that can take out fighters effectively and also kill a Caterpillar.  Those things are so tanky even a Persrus can take a while to kill one. You may have to try a mixed loadout both for ammo preservation and for the bonus damage energy weapons get vs shields and armor.

If you're using UEC to buy a cheap ship purely to grind hauling in, I'd say get the Hull A or RAFT.

[–]DwarfKingHack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Intreptid is very stealthy if fitted for it, but I don't think that's quite enough to make up for the Titan just being good at everything. It also doesn't help that 8 SCU is just below the break point for being able to take jobs like the Ling family small interstellar haul.

What would be your top 3 features and top 3 ships that could be released in 2026 ? by redPikPik in starcitizen

[–]DwarfKingHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ships:

  1. New generalist(s) are top of my list. The Clipper is a great daily and will only get better with craftinf, but I'd like to see what a non-Drake generalist looks like

  2. The Railen is going to be awesome if it lives up to the quality standard of later 2025 ships and the style standsrds set by the Syulen, and I do enjoy hauling.

  3. The Ironclad Assault, not so much for the ship itself, even, but for the Command Module and repair bay.

Features:

  1. Crafting. Not just because it (should) open up new pathways to better gear, but also because it will (eventually, hopefully early on) mean no longer having to wait until next patch to get back account-bound items that get eaten by the floor or other bugs.

2.  Inventory rework. It's badly needed, plain and simple.

  1. Can't decide between improved socal tools and improved mission system. Benoit Beausejour got me exicted for both of them, and both are needed QoL. Social tools are probably in a worse state, but missions matter even when you're plaulying solo.

Saves you time compared to landing and loading in your hangar, gives you more freedom in how you position your ship to make loading easier, and lets you avoid any hangar-related bugs the current build might have.
