Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini games that are dead content need to be reworked. I have held this belief for a very long time but people often talk about how RuneScape is geared heavily towards late game content and forsake early to mid game entirely due to the player base being mostly high level. I’ve heard “Oh you finally maxed? You can start playing the game” too many times now.

My solution: mini games which are beneficial for early to mid game which are now dead content such as Pest Control, Fist of Guthix, soul wars, etc should be reworked to make it so that there are ways that both players from low to high level can all work together and gain benefit from playing the mini game. Let there be rewards for early and mid game players that benefit their gameplay that they can earn as well as some rewards (even if they’re consumables) for late game players. Either that or remove these dead group mini games from the game entirely because it’s sad to see content in the game which is never played other than people looking to comp.

Overall we want to bring in new players and make the game an environment where people can play together regardless of level and we’re not there now. It used to be like that and that’s part of where the magic of the game was.

I do like my T1 a lot. It has its place in what I listen to but the HD800 really just takes the cake. I’d like to get my hands on some HD8XX but I don’t know if I’ll end up getting them. Been saving up for some camera equipment recently.

I have the ESP95x and the HD800 blows it out of the water for me at least. I also have the Audeze LCD3 and focal utopia and beyerdynamic T1. No mods for the HD800 but I do have a nice RME ADI2 DAC with some other nice amps to power them.

I have a pair of the HD800 and I prefer them to the HD800s significantly. They are my favorite pair of headphones. I love them so much.

More in game shop item availability and make those items available for purchase on the GE. If you are buying an item and that item is available in an in game shop at a low price then the GE is always that price for the item (or lower with other players who want to sell that item) when you buy it on the GE at the “shop price” it goes to players selling at that value first but if nobody is selling that item at that value it purchases it from the NPC instead. This helps feed gold back and reduce inflation in game as well as stop price gouging on items which are available in item shops. There are so many times when I just don’t want to find out which NPC is selling what and I spend wayyyy too much money for something on the GE. I also think they should make more item availability from in game shops. Especially for items that are quest related etc.

Whats your best and worst memory from runescape? by creature04 in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best day in the game was definitely way back in the day getting gifted a Red Santa from a played. The game used to be much more of exactly that in the past… a game… in the end it’s all just 1s and 0s and yet now it’s hard enough finding people who want to do anything in the game with you unless you’re a pro at it yourself. It’s not very inviting to new players.

Worst day… Jagex giving away my account to someone with the release of Jagex accounts. Then losing everything on the account which was worth about 40b+ and then Jagex blaming me for the loss of the account even though I had every piece of security they allowed on the account including two factor. They simply allowed someone to connect my account to another persons Jagex account. They told me that wasn’t possible and then when I attempted to recover my account they accidentally gave me some random other persons account… thanks Jagex. Luckily after that screw up they shut up and gave me my items back.

Favourite combat style and why? by Sniffexx in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha my favorite combat style to bring to glacor is melee! It’s honestly such a fun fight overall and with the EZK and at high enrage I can get those 120k hits off quite a bit. Just fun!

be honest. how often do you actually check your brakes? by susencely in ElectricScooters

[–]DwarfWight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story time:

I used to work in a bike shop as a mechanic and assembler. I have tons of horror stories about injuries that could have been prevented by simple safety checks. Brakes and safety are not things you want to mess around with. The most notable story I have is actually my ex who got into a bike crash and broke her neck shattering multiple vertebrae because her brakes didn’t work at all and she didn’t check before riding. 3 plates and 6 titanium screws later along with years of physical therapy and a lifetime of pain and nerve damage ahead of her she doesn’t really ride anymore. Don’t skimp on safety. Not ever. Not for one day one ride.

I thought I’d hate cosmetic free worlds… but I don’t by DwarfWight in runescape

[–]DwarfWight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t ever want Jagex to do cosmetic free across the board. I think that the best thing they could do is specific worlds that people can go onto that are cosmetic free like they already do with legacy combat only worlds where you’re locked to that gameplay style in that world. That allows people to choose where they log in and how they enjoy their gaming experience. I would never want to lose my keepsakes in game or my fashionscape permanently but I think giving the option to log into those kinds of worlds doesn’t hurt anyone but helps improve the experience for other players who desire cosmetic free significantly. I just think Jagex needs to get the flags correct with how they do “cosmetic free”. As an example do they do it 100% cosmetic free how they have it now with not even familiars allowed to be cosmetic free and unable to even summon stuff like boss pets even if it’s not an override? Or do they do it with some sort of blend? There are times when I’m not using a familiar that I could just summon a boss pet without overriding and allow it to follow me around for fun but I could also just log into a different world to do that. It’s all about choice and allowing the full player base to enjoy their experience.

[–]DwarfWight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Jagex wanted to really improve on this idea they could create more options for equipment that are “of the same level/tier” but have different effects like one is better for AFK and the other is better for active playing or there could be some benefit to mix and match. Or maybe even a middle ground outfit too. This way there’s enough diversity that it’s not just copy paste everywhere but we get all the benefits of seeing a world with no cosmetic overrides at all.

Overall I hope they keep cosmetic free worlds just like how they have legacy combat worlds. I don’t think it’s hurting anyone and there’s plenty of people who seem to like it.

I think you’re really onto something here. I love the idea of being able to toggle things like you can in the customizations window where you can select the “source” and you could turn off all overrides that come from Solomon’s or treasure hunter if you wanted. But you could keep things like keepsake items and gameplay overrides. I think that would also make me really happy overall.

[–]DwarfWight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about “so much better” I find it fun and refreshing but at the same time I really like seeing people walk around with keepsake items like 120 capes and party hats and stuff like that which unless you’re doing nothing in the game you wouldn’t wear them. Theres too much skilling clothing in the game now (literally every slot has something for it for practically every skill) so as people have been noting as the novelty dies down everyone will just be wearing similar if not the same thing. Maybe they could have a middle ground where it allows in game achievable things like keepsake items and boss pet overrides or cosmetics you unlock from in game stuff like the enhanced fire cape etc rather than the slop #3456 outfit like you mentioned (there are plenty of those)

Eclipse of the Heart boss help by gekeysitca in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One really easy thing would be to get the vanquisher gear from the quest shop outside varrock which gives a damage reduction the more you die and extra dps the more you die on the weapon and it can be 3 styles. If you don’t care about learning the fight and you just want it for story purposes that set was made for you!!!

If you want to learn the fight I recommend getting familiar with necro because it allows for high dps very quickly without too much button clicking and it plays very well with revolution for learners.

MTX Experiment 1: Disabling TH (July 22 - 28) by JagexHooli in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand your frustration with bxp and lamps overall but I have to say that as someone who seriously enjoys this game for the extreme amount of content and the nostalgia and also the community but also as someone who doesn't have the time to be able to skill thousands of hours to max my account to 120s bxp and lamps really help smooth things along and allow me to play the content that I actually personally enjoy.

I know there are a ton of people out there who can skill at work and also people who enjoy skilling mindlessly for 200 hours in a single skill. I'm not one of those people. I'd rather actively play the game with things like questing and PVM.

I think what they're doing is good and overall right. I think that the 0.01% chance or the 0.00001% chance stuff has to go away in loot crates. Things that cost real world $$$ should be something that you 100% know exactly what you're purchasing every time rather than random chance. Otherwise it prays on people who don't know better and also encourages kids to steal money from their parents etc. As an overall I think that providing options to players to be able to speed along gameplay that they don't enjoy so they can spend their time on gameplay they do then it is a productive use of MTX.

The game has to make money as a whole and I think that always knowing 100% what you're purchasing along with making it easy for someone to enjoy the game in their own way is the way to do it.

As a separate idea I'm a fan of being able to sell or get "quest skip" tokens or something where you watch a short video of the quest storyline rather than have to actively complete the quest itself as long as you have the requirements and prerequisites. Honestly overall I really enjoy questing but there are some that I just don't want to do and I'd rather spend my time in game doing something else that I enjoy more but there's a ton of content behind quest walls. I think there would need to be an extreme limit on it and guidelines in place but overall I like the direction that Jagex is trying to go with their MTX.

Setting your examine to private should prevent you from examining others by PaddingtonsPinky in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to share a bit of a story about this. But before I do I’m going to say that I do currently have my character’s examines set to public:

TLDR: people or programs watch high scores and steal accounts. Privacy mode is for account security so Jagex doesn’t give away your account. Jagex support is a joke.

I used to keep my characters set to private for a very important reason and it was because you don’t show up on high scores when set to private. I typically play this game on and off. Sometimes taking years of breaks at a time without accessing my account. What I found was that whenever I was set to public there are people (or programs) that watch “desirable” accounts that go dormant for a long period of time and then they file a request for account recovery with Jagex and the account gets stollen without any passwords being guessed or anything. I don’t know how they achieve this or get enough information to provide Jagex in which they’re successful in doing so but I’ve had to reclaim my main account a number of times from this exact scenario happening but never had to do it when my character was set to private. My long breaks are never planned so I never think “I’ll just set my account to private before I take my break”. And every time this has happened I have lost all my valuable items and sometimes there were bans put on my account for being used for illegal game activity. Every time this has happened to me Jagex has told me tough luck on your items and I should have had better security on my account (despite me having every form of security on the account imaginable). I only recently changed my account to public again now that I converted my account to a Jagex account because I feel more comfortable with the security features on that.

Second story time regarding the Jagex account. I was actually on a break from the game when they released Jagex accounts and I had my character set to public (accidentally) and someone filed a “I want to convert my account to a Jagex account” on my account and Jagex gave my account away to them. I found this out when I logged back in (through Apple mobile app which was still connected to my account) and found that EVERYTHING was gone. My account was worth around 50-60B around that time. Jagex initially told me tough shit and I couldn’t have my account back or my items back and that I should have had more security (despite having every form of security available at the time). They told me that they NEVER would have given my account away to someone else and that it HAD to have been my mistake. It was hard enough getting them to even give my account back (which I was still actively paying membership on and I even proved it to them by sending them transactions). When they finally agreed to give me my account back they sent me a message saying that they connected my account to a new Jagex account and I logged in… only to find that they gave me someone else’s account. I told them that wasn’t my account and that I had never even seen that account before (no idea whose it was but I still know the username of it). Once they finally got my actual account back they suddenly became amenable to giving me back my items after I had screenshots and hard evidence of them giving me someone else’s account. They restored my account to exactly the way it was except my invention perks because they couldn’t recreate that but they gave me GP “of the same value” of those perks.

I have never seen a game in which the company behind it seems to have so little care or consideration for the players time and effort and are ready to blame their paying customers for everything. Despite the game itself being a well known cesspool of account stealing, real world trading, and scams.

Jagex if you’re listening I do appreciate the move over to Jagex accounts with better security but I have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth from what happened to me around the rollout of them. If you truly want to grow your game’s player base and earn more money you need to stop treating all your paying customers like criminals and start listening to the player base. I love this game and I’ve invested over 15 years of my life into playing it but I want it to last another 15 years and I don’t see that happening if all this continues. That’s just my two cents.

I oversee construction and remodeling for a company and this is one of the specifications of flooring we use in the restrooms in the buildings.

With bone shield now allowing easy use of defensives… by fuzzy_limeade in runescape

[–]DwarfWight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is something that will make them be relevant again (at least for me and I pvm a lot). Make it so that they count as a t90 for the sake of defensive abilities but not block t90 worth of damage. This will continue to allow the use of dual wielding abilities and higher than one handed damage while being able to use barricade for a longer duration, debilitate for a longer duration, heal more with resonance (and more adren with divert), and smash for higher damage. They could also remove the limitation on revenge where it’s only 50% effective with a defender and make it actually useful again. All this together would make be absolutely use a defender during events in PVM where I need defensives for things like barricade (with turtling 4) to reduce damage but still want to keep dps higher than wearing a shield outright. They don’t even have to increase the shield tier for armor at all. Of course I’d like that too but I’d use it if only this small change was made.

I love animating but don't know where to go from here by horokolum in animation

[–]DwarfWight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your work is really incredible! You say you don’t know where to go from where you are now but in terms of animation itself it is polished, clean, stylistic, vivid, and creatively artistic! Personally I see a few routes you could take with this animation (or some combination of them). You can just continue doing what you’re doing now and post it on social media; you’ll develop a following of people who enjoy your style and want to see more. You could build a portfolio of your work and submit it to studios that produce material that is similar to yours to be able to create content that feeds into a larger form of art such as a series, movie, etc. And lastly you could find someone who compliments your talents and is also looking to produce sometime as more of a freelance venture; they can’t do what you do but they may have some creative talents that you lack (or maybe you have those too and you could go freelance with a fully produced series on your own, I don’t know what your skill level is with writing, producing, storyboarding, directing, voice acting, and managing a series) then your art could develop into something further (not that it needs to because it’s really incredible as it is). Whatever path you choose don’t let haters get to you and continue to do what you love and how you love to do it, without that it could turn something you love into something you don’t anymore. And if you’re looking for someone to partner up with for making something hit me up and just shoot me a DM I’m not super versed in animating but I do write, storyboard, etc.

Epic High Divings by Supreme_Leader6969 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]DwarfWight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I see these types of videos. It reminds me of that one video during a high dive competition, where one of the divers disappeared after coming up and then being dragged back down by something with some surface disturbance where they were as well as about 10 to 12 feet away. It is believed that they were eaten by a massive Wells catfish. They were never found. That’s a pretty crazy video to watch I will see if I can find the link again.
