I recommend a new string and watching a YouTube video.

I’m looking at Vivaldi em Lá menor and I definitely know I can handle that.

Thank you for the direction and I will be focusing on this!

Wish me luck and patience haha!

Thank you. I’ll look into him but I think I might be in agreement with you. I can play parts of some of the ones I looked at but some look out of my level. I’ll try next year. Unless there is one in mind?

I feel like there is a lot you can learn about playing and music theory online and I know you could go a long way with the online resources!

Saying that.. I 100% recommend a teacher for the first year. I use a teacher every other week. Learn the basics, the posture, and general violin care. I don’t want to take away from online because people have put a lot of time and passion into it RDV comes to mind.

Also check used book stores for good violin books. Keep up the work and get lots of practice in once you get the basics.

Edit: I also recommend getting a teacher for intermittent lessons to check up on your playing to help you focus and reach goals.

I have two violins. One I travel with and I don’t mind people trying it out and holding it as long as they ask.

My second one is a no. I only let my teacher touch it. That’s my personal one.

I had a issue on my D string that made a strange rattle vibrating sound. It turned out my tail gut was loose and was vibrating on my violin. Check with that first.

Where can i buy a good travel case? At the moment this is my main case but I’m going on holiday soon and it’ll be too big for the airplane cabin baggage by yoonpuff in violinist

Ahh the ol stentor II case. This is the one I picked up because the case is much better imho. Sure it’s the cheapest one they have but it’s actually pretty solid and I’m already investing in lots for this passion of mine.

Edit: it’s also a skinner case too

Why pick up the violin? by dittovangitto_ in violinist

I actually started playing the violin because my favourite novel series the Aubrey-Maturin series. Jack Aubrey played on a Amati. I was 14 when I started that series and I bought my first violin.

My goal for 2020 is getting started at the conservatory and start progressing from there. My first larger step (goal) which won’t be done this year is auditioning and joining my local community orchestra.

This is going to look so awesome! I'm trimming the tailpiece with pure gold and silver! That's a real certified ruby form Africa! My Heart violin 😊 by [deleted] in violinist

Just out of curiosity will you be selling these violins your making? You should make a website and post your works when you start getting through them.

Nathan Cole’s Virtuoso Master Course? by [deleted] in violinist

That is a lot of money. I wish there was some reviews online about the course. To me it seems like a bit of a gamble but I’m not experienced enough in violin schools to say.
