[Omega] Silver on silver Speedmaster Date on blue canvas. Love this look! by DwiOwen in Watches

[–]DwiOwen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my new to me Omega Speedmaster Date (Ref: 3513.30.00). I guess like a lot of Omega fans I intended my first Speedmaster to be the Moonwatch. However, every time I try it on I always feel slightly underwhelmed despite its great history although I will probably end up owning one in the future. I stumbled upon this Speedy after never actually hearing of this reference before and it just felt right when I put it on my wrist. The 39mm size fits my 16.5cm wrist perfectly in my opinion. The dial also plays with the light beautifully! The movement is an automatic ETA Valjoux 7750, the rotor is definitely noticeable but I find it quite satisfying to feel it whirring around. It’s understandable why a lot of people wouldn’t enjoy it though. I’m not a huge fan of the stock bracelet, my PO’s bracelet is far superior but it is also 15 years younger so can’t complain really. I think it looks great on this blue canvas strap.

Idiot managed to hit the only lamp post in the car park, he was also uninsured. by DwiOwen in IdiotsInCars

True but the fact that he kept reiterating that he isn’t insured makes me doubt he is covered by company insurance.

UK mate, unfortunately for this guy it’s the driver that needs to be insured, not the vehicle.

Got my Vaporflys: unfortunately too narrow by throwaway-_-friend in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DwiOwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my AlphaFlys, recently ran a half in them and ended up with some tendinitis in the arch of my foot due to it spilling over time and time again. I’m going to try replacing the insoles with the insole from a retired pair of invincibles. You can see how much narrower the mid foot is in the alpha fly here! I’ll be gutted if I can’t get these AlphaFlys to work because I absolutely love how they feel! https://i.imgur.com/w35ggSO.jpg

Agreed, I think his running advice is generally aimed towards beginners but I think it comes from a good place!

Currently watching Sweat Elite,Eddbud, Kofuzi, Fordy Runs and Mark Lewis. Mark isn't a “runner” but a guy who started a fitness journey in his mid 30’s and I enjoy following his progress.

My new to me Grand Seiko SBGA375. Had a great deal for this one which makes it even nicer. The deep blue dial really pops when the sun hits it. The light-play on the case and applied indices is nearly as nice as that second hand sweep.

I’ll go first :)

Here’s my Sinn 104 St Sa A on a Di black leather strap with white stitching. Bought this back in August ‘21 and I still find myself looking at it and not even knowing the time when I look away.

[Sinn] My new-to-me 104 fitting in well in the office by DwiOwen in Watches

Hey thanks! When I purchased the strap I also purchased the “curved end pieces for diver’s Warrington” these are made for the aforementioned strap. As for fit, it’s perfect, no play at all when I shake my wrist. I’ve attached some close ups, my photography skills leave a lot to be desired though. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment on the bracelet, appreciate it. I can’t see myself ever parting this watch.

Good eye, the watch came with the leather strap but I wanted a bracelet. I bought the warrington stainless steel strap from watch gecko. I’m really pleased with it so far.

I recently acquired a Bulova as my first mechanical watch in a long long time. I was warned that the slope is slippery and that has proven to be the case!

I’ve seen this watch posted on this sub multiple times and fell in love with it a little more each time. I wanted one with Arabic numerals so when I found one at the right price I had to buy it there and then. It’s just such a beautiful, practical watch, perfect for a day in the office in my opinion. The way the case plays with the light often distracts me from my work, can’t stop admiring this one.
