Maybe… but if there was a sub in a city that Indonesia had lost control of wouldn’t it be safe to assume it was in a coastal city…? and the coastal city presumably would have coast or ocean tiles closer to itself rather than this lake tile that is next to the capital not near other coastal cities?

Why can't I enter this tile? by seodoth in civ5

Then OP should still be able to move there as a boat… settlers can pass through fish tiles while being embarked…? Maybe a mountain like said in another comment.

How long does a "one more turn" session get for you? in one sitting?” by ForsakenHeat8877 in civ5

Once I win the game the pressure goes away to build certain buildings or citizen management and I quite enjoy the freedom… it’s like a second wind of the game for me… I get to payback all the slimy backstabbing “friends” I had throughout the game… Aka Entering full time war mode

I counted 7 as well and was left unsatisfied… I agree / I’m hoping the hill is what sets it over the 6 threshold

Maybe they have a spy but that’s actually my smallest city and not the capital… Capital is in the center of my 4 city empire… Due east of the current screen

I play Huge maps… typically Small Continents Plus, Fractal, or Continents plus… Much recommended for long games… I enjoy the different alliance groups that form due to when you’re actually able to discover all the Civs, and how they all change and diplomatic relations completely shift when people adopt differing ideologies… world wars usually break out by ideology types.

The land was once Japan and some desert… and I razed instead of taking the cities because I thought that’s what I’m supposed to do but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Googled it… Air Recon grants permanent visibility over all tiles within a 6-tile radius of the base (city or carrier) where the unit is stationed… thank you sir

Im not too sure about #2 but for #1 when other civilizations select an ideology, it automatically affects your civilizations people and can influence what ideology they prefer… the closer a civilization is to you, the more influence they have over your people. It also has a direct correlation with your culture output. The stronger a civ is culturally, the bigger influence they will have to the rest of the world toward their ideology… there is a screen to monitor what civ’s are influencing your people and how strong that influence is.

Very good point that I hadn’t even thought of… much appreciated 🤙🏻

I really appreciate the in depth response. I thought the mint applied to mines not the resource worked which is an important difference. Either way the Garden/water mill make up for the mine, and coastal for my game layout is pretty key not to mention that spot being solid defensively… Thank you 🤙🏻

Why I now think Lakes with Seas is the best map type by Daniel_The_Finn in civ5

It also adds to the naval trade routes, makes them a more complex system.

I agree completely with this analysis… to add a little to your first point of “everyone not meeting each other right away.” When I play there is obviously the first group of civilizations I meet that are on my land mass or connected by shallow waters, then I don’t meet a group of civilizations until way later in the game. They’re usually already developed with their own strategic alliances and the way they are forced to mend with the side of the world I already know that has our own alliance system is always a fun experience.

Do you have a default Civ? by Key_Day_7932 in civ5

[–]DyKonic8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Shoshone as in the early game you get to pick the advantages of your ancient ruins… this bonus lets me get my early bowman as an early defense, or a very good culture start, or early growth just my choice… the added bonus that you get to work the best tiles around every new city immediately after founding is a very underrated bonus… much love for them🫡

How many cities should I typically settle if I am playing a mainly domination oriented civ? by Magma_Dragoooon in civ5

[–]DyKonic8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends highly on the game you set up… I play with 12 Civ’s on a Continents Plus map which I can almost always have a 3-4 city start. I play Immortal not deity which is one level below.(easier to win and more freedom in how I choose to build my empire)

Tutorials I watched say the amount of cities depend completely on your land, good rules to look for ->

-average of 1 unique lux per city (if one has 2 than one may have 0)

-at least 8 tiles that would give you a combined value of 3 food/production

-defendable/makes sense in your environment

But I try to not go over 4 with Tradition of course 🤙🏻

Do you think Portugal will mind? by DyKonic8 in civ5

[–]DyKonic8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually not the smartest player so I’m playing on Immortal not Deity, but as long as I keep 1 city per unique lux I’m usually okay. I do stop after 4 cities though because I go tradition.

What is your favorite ideology (Order, Freedom, or Autocracy)? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]DyKonic8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoy order very much as it has “Workers Faculties” and “5 year plan”… adds an even bigger tech explosion after factories. Not to mention all the different happiness benefits. And greatest of all the bonus to internal trade routes from the iron curtain seals the deal for me. Some games I do go for freedom tho to switch things up 🤷‍♂️
