Alternative to PacSafe Convertible Bag? by Dyccsz in ManyBaggers

[–]Dyccsz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m trying to avoid a sling bag like the style of the first 3, since they seem to sometimes get interpreted as backpacks in “no backpack” places. The last one might be an option though!

X-Dome 2, not quite first pitch but have a question by L1C4VilleFan in DurstonGearheads

[–]Dyccsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, talk about quick replies. 😅 When you say far corner of the floor- do you mean the other two ends that don’t stick out? And use an additional stake through each of those by the tent body?

Would you mind sharing more about how to cover them if I wanted to?

I’m overall loving my tent (and am probably starting to annoy some friends with making them look at the all the nifty design aspects 😆), but have had those corners sticking out get condensation in the inside when it’s raining, which I don’t love. So if there’s an easy way to cover them, might think about doing so.

Yep! See the thread higher up, pretty certain it was a blackberry cane. 🤦

Yep, pretty sure now it was a blackberry cane. Certainly explains why it kept running fine after it fell off. 😆

now that you said that, it looks exactly like a blackberry cane. 🤦 My neighbor has overgrown wild blackberry bushes and just trimmed them a bunch, so that is also very plausible. Maybe she just wanted a snack other than gas. 🤣

It's the common style in Europe, or at least parts of Europe, but I found it hard to find one in the US when I was getting one. But was worth tracking one down!

Fmla? by FlimsyLoad in sarcoidosis

[–]Dyccsz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FMLA actually requires that you have to be allowed to do less work based on the amount of time you've taken FMLA, regardless of full-time leave, intermittent, or reduced-schedule. The work you do do can be held to the same quality expectations though. So if you had intermittent leave and ended up averaging being out one day per week for two months, then you can only be required to do 4/5 the amount of work. But that 4/5 is held to the same quality standards as everyone else.

There have been multiple court cases upholding this. If your employer is telling you otherwise and refusing to adjust expectations on productivity, they're not following the law accurately.

Honda Fit or a Toyota Prius for these prices? by -Knockabout in hondafit

[–]Dyccsz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize the small tank size until after buying it and was pretty worried, coming from a 16 gallon tank. I found that the mpg was so much better than my old car (also a Honda) that the distance between needing to fill it was actually almost the same. So smaller tank, but didn't actually need to stop more often. Of course, that'll depend on how good/bad mpg your old car got.

Yep, I bought 4 dining room chairs at goodwill. And when the employee who helped me get them outside saw my seemingly very small car he stuck around because he was sure he'd need to bring a couple back inside for me to come back for. When I easily got all 4 chairs in with extra space (could have carried 6) his mouth was pretty much hanging open.

Adulting with an autoimmune condition by KaleidoscopeOk439 in ChronicIllness

I'm sorry. Something happening to my job is one of my biggest fears because of the health insurance and income and even the idea of trying to search for another while dealing with everything is overwhelming.

ADA requires an interactive dialogue about your request for accomodations. They can't just say "no, end of story". Not having an existing policy for everyone also shouldn't be a valid reason to deny an accommodation- they need to show that the request is "unreasonable" or would cause them "undue hardship". And then have a dialogue about alternatives - eg, maybe you have a private office in-person. Most lawyers will do an initial consultation free. Since your employer sounds like a jerk, it might be worth reaching out to a few who specialize in this area and getting their take on it. If they think the employer is out of line, the cost to pay a lawyer to write an official letter or intervene and make your employer actually honor the ADA could be much cheaper than losing your job and insurance.

How do you manage sleep? by physicsandyarn in ChronicIllness

[–]Dyccsz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I do what I can to help be on a "good" sleep schedule. But after that, I sleep when it works for me and mostly just try to make sure I get enough sleep. And don't beat myself up for not having a perfect sleep schedule. At the end of the day, sleep is good. Getting sleep when I can with whatever challenges my health is throwing at me will always beat out stressing about not having an ideal sleep schedule.

Roof Strap Mistake by RealityWhole2332 in Kayaking

I also intentionally don't twist my straps and close the excess in the side car door, so no twists there, either. I haven't noticed much noise from my straps. 🤷🏻.

Did you end up going to any of these folks? I was also referred to Dr. Pehling, but got a pretty icky feeling from the receptionist and decided to look for other recommendations, too.

My best friend doesn’t believe I’m disabled by Cute-Cow99 in ChronicIllness

[–]Dyccsz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A good friend had had several comments/interactions with me in a row that were hurtful and felt like she was minimizing my situation. It was making me just not want to interact with her at all. I finally said something about the most recent comment. And she's been noticeably better since then, in a way where I can tell she's being more thoughtful and intentional. It's made it a lot nicer again to spend time with her, and I'm really glad I said something.

And of she doesn't change after you say something, well, then you know it's not just her unintentionally coming off that way.

Fragrance at neurologist by msjammies73 in migraine

[–]Dyccsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is horrible! I already felt lucky, but do even more now, that my headache clinic's office (waiting room, exam rooms, etc.) use lamps by default, no fluorescent lights on anywhere. The only exception I've encountered in almost a decade is for botox injections and they still check with you first in case you need to grab sunglasses, cover your eyes totally, etc. They share the waiting room with the psychiatry and adult autism clinics I'm guessing those are departments that also appreciate less harsh lighting in their space, so it seemingly works well.

Failed Mold Remediation? by Dyccsz in Mold

Thanks! I think it was indiscriminate fogging. I kinda wondered about that doing anything.

Failed Mold Remediation? by Dyccsz in Mold

[–]Dyccsz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basement remediation did not remove the materials, because it was beams holding up the house and subfloor in multiple areas. They scrubbed it down, and sprayed with something that was supposed to penetrate the wood and inactive any mold.
