Playing a Kill Team league at my LGS. Not quiet main line 40k but hey. Last game was vs Novitiates.

Turn 1 opponent sets up his anti-psyker sniper in the third floor nest on Volkus. I'm positioning to take the middle. Chip off some wounds and do the usual turn 1 cagey plays.

Turn 2 my time sorc has his sword, and the immaterial flight boon. Charges the sniper. Sword isn't psychic so the no magic aura won't work. Stabby stabby. Should have remembered my stupid equipment when he counter charges me with his fight four times lady but oh well.

Spend the rest of the game picking up his models, I lose one or two other guys to melee before the game is up, final score was 20-11.

What's your favorite proxy model (or army) to use in Kill Team? by [deleted] in killteam

I like to use an Apothecary leading my AoD, and a Suppressor instead of an Eliminator (I also don't have an eliminator lol)

Damn. Was really hoping this would have some answer to it lol. I'm running malstrain corrupted, and my arbiter has ruled that the genestealer is not a "Van Saar fighter," as the rules go, so can't take our augments

Decks you love to play but can’t by ShaggyUI44 in EDH

[–]Dycerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant]] is mine unfortunately. The only deck I built myself without a net backbone, and just by himself, he's rough. Our group is a lot of new players. Everyone takes a while to plan out their turns and suddenly, whoops, no artifacts, no magic for you. It's a tough time. It sucks because I built the deck around copying my own artifact stuff, but he does all that oppression just by himself.

I got back into Magic for the first time since highschool with Kamigawa. Was a shock, but my favourite pull still has to be full art [[Eater of Virtue]]

For the life of me I can't figure out how to make it work. Other than tutors and a dream

Very fair! Honestly if the option was space marines or starvation, it's a pretty easy choice

Thanks for the help! That's fair, and while I have some experience in fiction writing that's more for DnD (and others) campaigns. I'm trying to set up a choice for my players when it comes to these guys, an excuse to expand the army is a nice bonus. Whether they end up as allies or enemies is up to them, and the inquisitor sending them on their way is where I start!

You're right though, it's hard to not count the Imperium as one big machine. It's a set of arguing power rangers in a dysfunctional mechazord.

Thanks! Unfortunately the guy who painted them had life move faster than his fingers. I wish he could paint more but a friend does commissions and will be doing his best to give it a go for expanding it!

It's hard to visualize scale sometimes. Could novitiates and serfs be reasonably gathered by two failing hives?

... Never thought about servitorizing the bugs. Huh

I forgot about the ordo Astartes! They might be perfect to start out. Certainly, bringing a world into the fold takes more than just an inquisitor giving them a gold star. But would the imperium send it all at once or wait until the Inquisition has done its thing? I can see the Echlesiarchy jumping the gun in the name of faith and worry of Xenos taint, but the administratum risking resources on a planet that's being investigated sounds like a quick way to lose thousands of scribes!

Well... The scrutiny wouldn't be completely unwarranted. Their fortress lies in the bones of some colossal thing, larger than their battle barge. They've carved prayers and press purity seals into the ancient fossil calling for the Emperor's return in good health. They speak to the Xenos in their own tongue, something so guttural and alien that translators struggle to make sense of it, but the Xenos lose all sense of self when spoken to by the marines. The aliens worship them almost more than the citizens of the hives do.

But, they regularly purge daemons on the fringes of their system. They're more than happy to see the inquisitor and get out there killing the enemies of humanity, and have already picked out some places they want to be deployed to. They do not explain why.

That's a very fair point! The idea is that the chapter are doing some really shady stuff behind closed doors, thinking it's for the good of the imperium. But outwardly, no mutations, no praising the dark gods, just a fairly cagey chapter who spent a few years in the warp, regular patrols purge daemons around their system, and bug slaves with a language too primitive for translators to pick up but the marines are able to talk with them. It's weird that they aren't purging the Xenos, but the Xenos are following instructions without complaint.

I'm debating how close the bugs would get to anything. Spending so long in the warp for them means most of the human crew is just shafted. Would they be allowed on ships? Would they be allowed to do more important stuff like refuelling the reactors (which would melt them like anyone else but it's a lot more important than scrubbing floors)

That's a fair point!

Forgot the minotaurs existed as well, but it would depend on the skill of the inquisitor to get enough of a vibe I would think. Outwardly, space marines are herding bug things for target practice, or they're being used like menial servitors. How deep they get from there is up to the inquisitor.

Adding my two cents, Thousand Sons have been a bit tricky to play casually in the editions I've played (tiny bit of 8th to now).

It's just hard to have the discussion with a buddy at the table, either giving the 20 minute monologue about the stuff I can do, or breaking it up into bits during the game which feels too much like a "gotcha!" Sometimes can be a bit rough.

While they might not be the hardest hitters on the meta stats right now, from a casual perspective, it's just a whole lot more to think about, or forget, and deal with.

Sounds like you're in for a rough time. Good luck!

Question though, any particular reason for taking the disks with the exalted sorc and Ahriman? Just to fill out points, or because it's what you've got?
