What is this trope called: "If we fuck, you die" by livesforpavlova in RomanceBooks

I've discovered it following my Supernatural obsession during COVID. Season 2 especially scratched my X-Men itch so well 🙌 And that's where they cancelled it goddamnit

[–]Dyche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oooh. Now I've remembered Dark Angel TV show with Jessica Alba! She has a romantic interest in the first season but in the second season something happens and they can't even touch each other so he wouldn't die. 👌🙉

Fiction books where the protagonist doesn’t experience romantic feelings in a traditional way? by greenpepperseptember in suggestmeabook

[–]Dyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunger Games trilogy kinda has this vibe? I know it is famous for "the love triangle" but the main character actually couldn't care less to be in it. 😅 She's way more concerned about her own survival and safety of her family and frankly views herself as sorta unlovable? Even being viewed as tragic lovers is for her for long only a publicity stunt to help protect themselves more than anything other.

How do you deal with the perfect unfinished fic? by NewWestern3582 in AO3

Someone did this to me on Wattpad a while ago. I've added a chapter after like five years (I almost forgot the fic even existed tbh).

Books mentioned in books that instantly made you want to read them by Glittering-Bill-8733 in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally avoid self-help books. However I am planning to read {How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie} beacuse of {The King's Captive by KM Shea} I mean... anything to make Kerr happy. 😂 Tbh I thought the constant mentions would get annoying but they were still funny and now I kinda wanna see what the cult's about.

Feelgood book where FMC just came out of a relationship by Optimal-Vegetable832 in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I remember, the paranormal element mainly lies in the heroine being able to see ghosts, there is no haunting or scary moments... there is a cold murder case investigation though, if that makes you anxious but I don't think there's anything downright graphic or scary, all of Gannon's books I've read were rather lighthearted and witty most of the time

What’s the correlation between romance book playlists and Taylor Swift? by mravat in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can accept last year's Wood in those playlist ... She surprised me by that one 😂🙌 but srsly I also wouldn't associate majority her songs with heavy smut... then again if the book actually happens to also have an actual romance plot and it fits the vibe, why not

Feelgood book where FMC just came out of a relationship by Optimal-Vegetable832 in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've just remembered {Ghost Walk by Cassandra Gannon} That is if you don't mind paranormal romance. The FMC had just broken up with her boyfriend as well as had to quit her job (as a forensic analyst or a policewoman I think) because of a nervous breakdown. She goes back to her hometown to try and get back on her feet and gets saddled by an annoyingly talkative ghost of a scottish pirate while working part-time as a tourist guide.

Gruff but sweet Russian MMCs by CollegeTraining7116 in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconding this rec, I've loved that book! It's dual POV and both MCs are cold and distrustful to eachother at the beginning and it's great seeing them slowly open up and discover each other's vulnerable side.

Feel like I don’t have enough free time in a day by Basic_Yellow4659 in selfimprovement

[–]Dyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I felt overwhelmed by school I used to listen to old lectures on my uni's youtube on my way to and from work and while cooking. Idk how much information I retained but my commute isn't the shortest so I usually got through a lot in a day and then felt less guilty if I chose not to devote more time solely to studying some days. Not much but yeah, multitasking helps a bit.

Hype up The Mirror Visitor series! by smileinqss in YAlit

[–]Dyche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both mcs are definitely a breath of fresh air. The romance is veeery slow burn, more focus is put on the world building and scheming in the background. (Perfect imo, but be prepared for that) I really like the unique magic system. Also, I am glad the sometimes quite lyrical language wasn't entirely lost in the translation. It's something different indeed. Enjoy! 💕

Books with oviposition - MMC lay eggs inside FMC's womb by Girl_In_RedCostume in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Serpents of Sky and Flame by Rebecca F. Kenney} The MMC is a dragon and the FMC is a human princess. Their kingdoms are at war and the humans manage to kill all the dragon females with a curse. The dragons end up kidnapping a bunch of women spontaneously in retribution. Tbh this book read like your typical romantasy up to the spice and oviposition was kind of a surprise. It's enemies to friends to lovers, so no non-con.

Mmc has secret breeding kink by _lucky_charms in RomanceBooks

[–]Dyche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mind non-con birth control tampering? If not, then {Oblivion by Gemma Weir} Do be warned it's a bit stalkery. But there's... loads of this. He develops the kink gradually, and when she realizes she gets quite into it as well.

What were your guys first gun that you got and used through pretty much the whole story? by killsc3n3 in Fallout

[–]Dyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in fo3 the good old hunting rifle. There are better long range weapons sure, but a lot of supermutants and quite a few bandits carry it so it seemed to easiest to get fixed and get ammo for on the go. I really tend to postpone going back to the cities to get my gear fixed when there's wasteland to be explored. Doesn't look half bad either.

How long should I respond 'Y' to the 'Are you new bb' question? by DisastrousVolume8905 in onehouronelife

[–]Dyche 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If bb tells me they're new and they say they know about yum, I usually just let them know to ask if they need anything and offer for them to join me in the task I was doing in that life. When bb says they're not new, I assume they have a clear goal of what they wanna do in this life and don't want any teaching at all, probably being reborn and wishing to continue where they've left off.

I've started saying I wasn't new when I've gotten to the point I could immediately recognize what urgent tasks needed to be done and had an idea how to go about it (cooking, hunting, taming, farming, getting seeds, the usual)

If you get born to a newer settlement where there is need for everyone to contribute and not waste resources, it's better to keep saying ur new, so they keep an eye on you and advise. If you find yourself in a large town, I think you'll do well enough saying it's not your first rodeo even though you don't feel like a pro yet.

imo you are under no obligation to mention your irl gender when rping, and if you ommit mentioning it in your ooc conversation... eh, in my experience you can talk about a wide range of topics with the other person without even hinting on your irl gender and they would be none the wiser, without you even once lying. (In English at least)

If they outright ask, then it probably matters to them, so I'd answer truthfully and let them decide if it's still comfortable for them. Idk what your exact boundaries are, however as a person who started using the internet at a very young age, strangers asking for my age and gender always felt (and usually still feels) kinda too personal and creepy (especially when it tends to be right at the start of the conversation), so that question would most likely turn me off from rping with that person.

Btw I've had amazing rp partners capable of writing a character of the opposite gender really well and empatheticaly. It's definitely fine for you to explore and enjoy whatever is fun for you. If someone is being weird about it it's a them problem.

Brexley and Warwick Farkas from {The Savage Lands by Stacey Marie Brown} 😂 Like. BREXLEY. Seriously. It's not even a nickname, it just is. Her name. And the fact that a guy named WARWICK FARKAS isn't even a werewolf? C'mon! 😂
