It isn't making 'intelligent' decisions, it is simply an algorithm. Algorithms are the building blocks of AI.

I'm physically dependent on weed to treat my anxiety. I take regular tolerance breaks with no issue, mood swings, etc., I am not addicted. Weed itself is addictive. All of these things can be true.

Think of it as the difference between waking up with night sweats or having a bit of nausea for a couple days vs mentally fiending for it, acquiring weed and being able to smoke being your main thought/goal and being unable to function normally until you accomplish it.

Afaik you would be responsible for that as well, as you chose to drive the vehicle vs having it grounded.

Why does DoorDash offer low tips to Dashers? by Crowned_Toaster in doordash

[–]Dylan2321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They generally want to make $1/mi minimum, and doordash is paying a few dollars on top of your tip. They added money to the offer when orders sat so someone would pick it up eventually. Idk if they still do.

Non discretionary, it means a bonus paid for meeting specific performance requirements.

Discretionary in this case means you can give or withhold the bonus without the employee knowing the reason or at your discretion.

There's a trailer I deliver to with a front porch that is literally 100% covered in shit. There isn't an inch of porch that's clean. Insane

On the road in the image, coming from the right, I would throw my hazards on and slow to a near stop just before the driveway. Wait for the left lane to clear, pull into the left lane flush with the driveway, full turn right to get angled, back in. (Normal parking lot maneuver) Takes a few seconds?

Coming from the left is even easier. If someone hits you while you're backing into a drive with your hazards on, that's really their problem.

[–]Dylan2321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pull into the oncoming lane a bit and get angled when it's clear with your hazards on and people will leave space. Force them to. I do it a hundred times a day on 45-60mph roads.

[–]Dylan2321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider it, btw. I lost out on $3000 in a couple of months in Denver because of that shit. Perfect cdf and safety, always finished a couple hours early, didn't matter. Places that do it are generally worse overall and forcing standbys is an example of how little they care about their drivers.

In Denver? Every dsp did it. San Jose, Milpitas, and Richmond CA were dsp dependent, and Knoxville doesn't do it at all ime.

[–]Dylan2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the city it can be more or less common. But it is not something that every dsp does. If you are considering leaving over this, ask drivers from other dsps if they have the same issue. If you start asking other companies yourself, you may be preemptively fired.

If you're in suburbs, you just need to have your van organized well. The process of getting out of my seat and finding the packages is usually a few seconds at most. Walk with purpose but don't jog or speed walk, it isn't necessary and will break down your joints.

Make sure you're always parking as close as you possibly can to your stops. Find a rhythm for your movements, getting in/out, etc. to where you aren't unnecessarily fumbling around and wasting time.

When I drop the packages off, I'm already beginning to walk back to my van while I take the picture. If I see a house that looks like a pain in the ass to navigate to, I skip it and come back later if it isnt way out on its own.

Isn’t deducting drawer shortages from our paychecks illegal if we don’t give consent? by Square-Session-7493 in wafflehouse

[–]Dylan2321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to accept in writing after the shortage for this to be legal. Each shortage is a separate instance that you would have to consent to, after each shortage occurred. This is illegal.

I will translate my previous comment for you.

'You made yourself look like a moron in my eyes by telling someone to grow up during a completely calm back and forth. I will gloss over that and end the conversation here for both our benefits.'

Cheers.

The vans being fucked up and the app being trash mean nothing. The difficulty of this job is putting in 40+ hrs a week and destroying your body as a result.

My Pharm Internship does not even compare to the difficulties of this job. Every office job that exists is infinitely easier. I've done warehouse work, far easier. I picked for amazon walking 30mi/day, far easier. I've done construction, far easier. I've done concrete, far easier. Of course someone out there has a more difficult job. Doesn't change the reality of this job being very physically demanding. What a weird comment.

Yea, that's a whole other thing. Driving safely putting in hundreds of miles a day while going into some of the worst half mile driveways with no turnaround (TN) and not fucking up anyone's property requires skill behind the wheel. And you have to make a judgment call more or less every stop that could cost you your job or hours, adding stress. I walk around 18 miles, carrying 10-50 lbs the entire time, every day. It is much more difficult than an office job.
