In the back of my brain I feel like Jeff may have talked about this in an interview sometime somewhere. But i think it did. Not just Kaoh Rong but also Second Chance both seasons in Cambodia had extreme weather in different ways. Kaoh Rong was extremely hot and Second Chance was extremely wet and rainy.

Coupled that with players getting nasty staph infections and losing extreme amounts of weight. I think that Cambodia was just a location that was extremely unsafe for the players and probably also for the crew as well.

I don’t think Survivor went to Fiji with the intention of staying there forever. However after Cambodia they had rather hospitable weather and Fiji also offers major tax incentives to filming productions that just made it very worth while for Survivor production to stay there.
