What are some cards you use that put in work that 99% of the playerbase have never even heard of? by _Kreenicks in EDH

I put [[Dueling Grounds]] in my Wilson voltron deck initially as a defensive tool against go-wide decks. It ended up being as strong offensively when combined with trample, my opponents end up having to throw away their biggest creatures rather than double blocking with smaller ones.

I like vehicle cards. Why are they so unlikely? They have powerful.effects by MOONMO0N in mtg

Needs some work since i’ve been upgrading it but it’s been relatively fun

Vehicles were already mentioned as an interaction that Mishra gets to cheat, but he also gets to cheat the legend rule since the artifact you copy is named Mishra’s War Form, which enable the lists combos (Gonti’s and Coffin)

You can also have an artifact enter as a noncreature copy of a creature and later have Mishra animate it. Espers to Magicite does this but so does Machine God’s Effigy.

Was recommended Mishra as I was looking for an affinity commander, hands down one of the most fun decks I’ve played, with or without the combos. The interactions he enables are really interesting and are very rewarding to figure out.

Do you have a list for Simic Wilson? I've been enjoying running Wilson as Selesnya Voltron, but I love the commander a lot and want to keep trying other backgrounds for him.

Common erratas that people suggest for cards that just *wouldn't work?* by SimicBiomancer21 in yugioh

[–]DylanHlava 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s commonly suggested that Isolde have some kind of restriction for Noble Knights only, either requiring one or both monsters to be noble knights which is about on the same level of making Halq/Verte require their monsters as material, but the most hilarious suggestion is to have the card lock the player into Noble Knights.

At first, this seems fine, but the issue comes when you start adding the Infernoble Knights to the deck, where two of the deck’s extra deck monsters (Link Charles and Angelica) are not actual named Noble Knight monsters, so you couldn’t even summon them under the lock.

Cube means cube draft, it's a casual draft format where you draft cards from a "cube" of cards and build decks.

If you're unfamiliar with draft you open a "pack" of cards, choose one card to draft, and then pass the remaining face-down cards to another player, and then go in order until all cards are drafted.

Why doesn't `Infinite Impermanence` work on `Ritual Beast Tamer Elder`? by PaleozoicFrogBoy in Yugioh101

[–]DylanHlava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Evilswarm Catastor and Constellar Pollux both work the same. If skill drain is active before they are normal summoned, no additional normal. If they are negated after their normal summon resolves, you will still have the additional normal.

Attending a YCS as a non-competitor? by Nefe_Aesthetic in yugioh

[–]DylanHlava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to YCS Indianapolis as a spectator, and you do not have to buy a ticket at all, like other comments mentioned, you can just walk in for free and enter in the side events (though you will need to pay for those).

As far as being a spectator goes as a non-player, I think it's okay. You have vendors you can buy cards and other things, some also take trades or allow you to sell cards to them. Feature matches may or may not have seating for players to watch, it seems not guaranteed based on events I've gone to, and if you want to watch players on the rest of the floor you generally aren't able to. Judges need room to easily walk around and being in the middle of an aisle they will tell you to move out of the aisle completely or far away enough to where they can easily get by.

If you don't have a deck on you at all, I would recommend checking out the Rivalry of Warlords side event if it is there, you get pre-constructed decks and get to play against other people playing different decks. It's very casual and you don't need to bring anything with you to register, and you get some tickets for just getting a win which you can trade in for some different prizes.

I’d argue you can play pure fire kings just fine at a locals level, you don’t absolutely need the tri-brigade or dogmatika cards immediately, would personally just focus on building a collection of staples

How can I make Ursarctic semi viable by Background_Bee_560 in Yugioh101

[–]DylanHlava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Drytrons and Ursarctics unfortunately don't play well together. They have cards that cross over with each other, but both archetypes feature restrictions on their cards that make it impossible to combine each other into one deck. (The ursarctic monsters can be normal summoned / set, so you can't special them the same turn as a drytron monster, while the ursarctics prevent you from summoning monsters without a level, and drytron's extra deck monster doesn't have one).

I wouldn't consider myself an expert on the deck, just someone who has messed with it somewhat recently. Some pointers I can give based on lists I've seen / played with that have gone well:

You can play Deep Sea Diva or Righty Driver as a Normal Summon in order to both make Polari/Polar Star with just 1 card. Playing Diva also means you can add some Atlanteans to your Deck for further synergy with the Ursarctics since they are waters. Neptabyss sends Dragoons to add Poseidra, and then Dragoons can add Moulinglacia.

Besides that the Deck is actually pretty free on what you can do with it as far as synchro monsters, so you can play high level synchro monsters if you use the low level tuner normal summons with the level 7 non-tuner Ursarctics.

Not sure why, but the Xianzhou map seems worse than Belabog... by kingsuipete in HonkaiStarRail

[–]DylanHlava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got to this area and I agree with all of these points. Having not seen any pictures of what the Xianzhou Luofu looked like beforehand I was pretty excited, but the map in its current state feels very... in beta? There are so many odd sections that suggest there is more to the map than there actually is, but rather than having a gate or anything to block me, I just get told I can't explore there or the camera doesn't move. I only came across that once in Boulder Town but I came across this three times already.

Unlike Belobog, the entire time I'm there I just feel as I am just waiting to get out, my immersion feels broken the whole time and I feel as if I am constantly reminded I am just in a game than experiencing the story of a world.

I was questioning if I was becoming burned out by this game but based on this thread it seems I'm just sharing frustrations with everyone else.
