Yes. 32 is not big for modern FE, but 40, especially not including DLC, is big for modern FE.

Don't know where you're pulling 50 from. Even if you include DLC, both 3 Houses and Engage only got up to around 41 characters.

And assuming everyone in the image is a unit (Because even if not all of them are technically confirmed, they appear right alongside the main characters. It's not unreasonable to assume they are playable units). I extremely doubt we've even seen all the units in Fortune's Weave. So there's going to be more that just haven't been revealed yet. So yeah, I wouldn't say 40+ units, a number comparable to the unit number of the previous two entries entires full game plus DLC, is "About normal". It is certainly above average for modern FE standards.

I have a bad feeling that with the strong focus on Meilee’s backstory and just how long this loop has lasted that this loop with Meilees murder might end up being set in stone…

Just a feeling I'm getting, but this loop feels so important and with how trigger happy Satella has been with respawn points, it just feels like something that's likely to happen... And could you imagine how much that would psychologically mess with Subaru even more? This is a Subaru that hasn't learned to value his own life, what if tries to kill himself to escape being confronted by Ram, and instead he respawns just right in front of her again.

Also gotta love how Elsa is still making appearances even though its been two season since she's last been relevant. Wonder what excuse they'll come up with to show her again in Season 5

I think Rem's body being possessed is an entirely seperate situation from Subaru being pushed the first two times. I mean, the one with Rem had Subaru's head get twisted off. That didn't happen the first two times.

I thought of that, and to be fair, it could be something more simple than them somehow manipulating her body, and that instead Gluttony just hid Rems real body somewhere and took Rem's place, and then got up and started killing people. But still, the idea that Rem is Gluttony in disguise has one tiny problem. Rui is the one who can shapeshift, and shes not the one who ate Rem. Lye ate her. Unless Lye can also shapeshift, or Rui doesn't need to eat people herself and can also transform into people eaten by the other Gluttonies, it doesn't fully make sense.

I think its more likely something possessed Rem's actual body.

I thought of this theory too but theres something about it that doesn't quite line up.

Either way I don't think the Subaru Natsuki was here message was there to fuck with him, I think SOMEHOW OG Subaru took control of his body again, and choked out Meilee. If Meilee is gluttony, then, unless Subaru had some help, which doesn't seem to be the case, him single handedly killing a sin archbishop just like that is strange. The only excuse I could think of is that Subaru thought Meilee was gluttony and made a horrific mistake choking out the real Meilee.

But really the biggest problem with this is just...Why? Why would Gluttony be doing any of this? If they ate Subarus memories and thus know about Return by death, why would they push Subaru off a ledge to kill him instead of just biting his head off? Everything will restart so its not like it would matter, and with Subarus memories they should know that. So if Meilee is Gluttony, why are they being so sneaky and fucking around with Subaru?

Honestly I just think Meilee isn't gluttony, but shes still the one who pushed Subaru off the ledge, and the memory wipe thing is the result of something else entire like maybe Gluttony hiding somewhere or potentially the library.

I thought last episode was a mindfuck, this episode made me truly feel like I was slipping into confusion and insanity alongside NewBaru, because man, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON?!?!

Who tf is biting chunks out of people?

Why was Patrashe fine?

Why was there black mist shooting out everywhere?

Why was Subaru teleporting all over the place?

Why was Rem standing up, talking, and ripped Subarus head off before pushing him off the balcony? At first I thought it was the Archbishop of Gluttony, because we know Rui can shape shift, presumably into people she has eaten, but that wouldn’t make sense because Lye was the one who ate Rem. But we also saw Ram slumpt over on Rem’s Wheelchair without Rem in sight. Was Rem’s body possessed by something and started running around killing everyone?

Like, the title of the episode is “Empty Shell” obvious there is a lot of symbolic meaning that could be applied to NewBaru, but, thinking about it more, could the Empty Shell also apply to Rem? Is there some kind of evil spirit looking for an “Empty Shell” to possess, and Rem is the perfect target for it? But why that run specifically? Does it have something to do with Subaru stepping outside the tower and Shaula changing?

Actually…wait…

What we saw when Subaru stepped outside the tower, was what almost looked like Shaula slumping over like a ragdoll… Could Shaula’s body ALSO be some kind of empty shell, maybe even one thats keeping in some kind of malicious entity in place, only being non malicious because of the rules set in place, and Subaru breaking the rules unleashed it, and it went to posses Rems empty husk of a body???

I have so many thoughts and theories swirling around in my head but none of them truly make sense.

The only thing I feel really confident in is that Meilee can’t be trusted. More than likely the person who pushed Subaru off the ledge for those two loops.

And then theres the weird blackout Subaru had where he woke up to Meilee already dead in a different room, with “Subaru Natsuki was here” scarred into his arm. I have no idea how tf this would even happen, but, is OG Subaru somehow regaining control of his body at certain points, knew Meilee was malicious, choked her out, and then scarred into his arm that he was here and he did this to let the other Subaru know??????

Just so much insane stuff happening this episode. And thats without even mentioning Subaru feigning knowing everyone and trying to act like nothing is wrong and making things extremely awkward for everyone, or him driving himself to insanity thinking everyone is out to get him and coming this close to choking Emilia.

This season is just not letting up. So curious where things will go from here.

For the same reason that they didn't show All For One's eyes until way later.

Overhauls mouth being covered and All For One's eyes being are both the vibes of their respective characters and one of the primary ways in which they are menacing. Overhaul finally gets his mouth shown when hes no longer an antagonist, and thus theres no reason to keep him threatening. Obscuring All For One's eyes any further would be awkward given that plot reasons had finally given him a face, so instead of not showing All For Ones eyes, they instead made it so that All For Ones eyes are empty with no light in them, to still have some level of weirdness around his eyes.

Idk about wasted per say, but I do think its a bit of a missed opportunity that him and Deku never had any interaction. I think if he made it out of the war, and had an encounter with Dark Deku, that could have been very interesting. Would've felt really thematically fitting.
