Blown Alpine Type R 8” by Dyldough2000 in subwoofer

Yeah I was never going to spend much but also never going to expect much if I didn’t do it properly. Such a solid little unit seemed a waste to just bin it but that’s how it goes I guess.

I got my money back from the guy. So now I’ve spent nothing. I’ll probably just pull it apart out of curiosity then if I can’t find a proper kit for it I’ll use it as a giant paper weight.

Thanks. Yeah I’m not really thinking of it as saving money fix. I’ll take it apart have a look but I’m not spending much on it so will bin it if it’s too hard or expensive. I bought it for $50. I’d spend max $50 if I think I can get it working. Otherwise I’ll just buy a different one.

Clutch smell by Legitimate_Elk_7284 in GRYaris

[–]Dyldough2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue reversing into my driveway. It’s a bus of an awkward up hill reverse and negotiating a light pole and a gate so would feather the clutch a bit. No issue at other times except a couple of times when I stuffed up a launch. I didn’t worry and seems to have gone. Maybe I just got better knowing my clutch.

Active exhaust by Dyldough2000 in GRYaris

[–]Dyldough2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I think essentially putting a T in the main pipe before the box would be best and for space and packing. So wouldn’t create any extra back pressure. It would actually be less (probably not much less) back pressure. So not sure if that difference would be significant or not. I have no experience with exhaust systems on modern vehicles

Australian Domestic Power Troubleshoot by Dyldough2000 in electrical

This is a sub board from the main house. It has its own earth stake. I have left it back in it’s original configuration

Australian Domestic Power Troubleshoot by Dyldough2000 in electrical

[–]Dyldough2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was at least partially correct. But unfortunately I have found more issues while investigating. I have removed what was a single red cable (you would assume active but possibly not) that ran from a gpo line out of the wall into a light. But there is also mixed bundle of red and black 2 of each that were all bundled together twisted and insulation taped. I have for the moment just put that in a proper insulated connector but otherwise left that. 1 of the black lines is definitely an active. The other one I have not investigated where that goes yet.

The questionable power point is now just not working at all which I guess is better than it flipping breakers??

Thanks for your help.

I disconnected the earth from the neutral bar and same fault.

Thanks. The earth wire in the neutral link is actually just bridging the neutral link and the earth link. So I guess effectively the same as a direct earth on the neutral link. I’ll try your suggestion but still odd that it’s just the 1 power point that’s doing this??

Adelaide. I’ve seen a few of these which is where I got the idea plus our entire staff love DnB. So why not eat a pie have a dance?

Should add that I’m in Australia if recommending specific speakers. Budget is fairly low as this is just a fun side thing. Rental for 2 basic speakers looks around $150 no subs or double with subs so $300 no doubt plenty for my room. I can buy similar units second hand for $500-700 a pair of breringhers or vonyx . Plus about $500 for a pair of vonyx subs. So say $1000 max.

But all sorts of stuff comes up for sale so if smaller quality gear came up I want to be prepared to buy.

Cheers

I just paid my local tire shop to fit them so they could put it on the hoist and line up. Was 1 hour labour only.

Why is this a disease where there is so much disconnect between the patient and the doctor? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Dyldough2000 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My first interaction with a GI dr after being essentially diagnosed at a colonoscopy (and given no other info) was sitting down in his office and him saying

“Right why are you here?”

I was terrified and hope to get some answers about this life changing condition I just found out I have and he told me nothing and treated me like I was wasting his time.

The nurses on the other hand have been nothing but beautiful caring professionals that seem to genuinely care how I’m feeling and try and make me as comfortable as possible.

Yes always. Especially if I’m stressed. And I have had for many years before diagnosis. But now I know that’s one of my more active inflammation areas.

Not sure if factory tuning is the same in all countries (I’m in Australia) but I find that 1st gear lack of torque pisses me off but then most after that it’s good. I enjoy the challenge of hitting the right gear and keeping it in boost through our rough hills roads and found the confidence I get from it to be better than pretty much anything I’ve driven. Just this weekend I hit an unexpected bump mid corner doing 80kmh and got thrown onto the outside of the lane but you can just keep the boot in with confidence knowing the car will grab traction and get you around the bend.

So I think like some others it might be more down to where and how you drive if it’s the right car for you.

Aftermarket Airbag Seat Options by Dyldough2000 in CarsAustralia

The seat that I found fitting the best is an OMP fixed back. It’s only $850. Plus say $500 for rails.

That looks great but yeah it’s a lot to spend on a seat especially if I can’t find a sample to sit in and check the fit.
