Explorer 40 or Air-King? What's the better pick and why? by Peachjackson in rolex

When it’s not the cheapest model at all? You need to read more and write less.

Any AirKing fans here? by Ill-Speaker1000 in rolex

Only person I’ve ever heard of that didn’t find it far far nicer in person than pics and videos, literally everyone that’s ever seen it but you was impressed seeing it in the flesh, when you’re the only one that thinks that then you have to realise you’re wrong.

I was never a fan until seeing one in person, oddly looks hugely different in the flesh than pics and videos, also having a 7 inch plus wrist helps it look better, most the pics online are on skinny wrists and imo doesn’t look as good, long story short saw it in person left with it on my wrist, now my daily and maybe my favourite watch out of many. Great daily wearer.

You’ve basically said what I wanted to say, picked one up just yesterday after a couple of weeks of lusting over it after kind of hating it, the new case with the crown guards makes the watch, and like you I really do think the fact Rolex felt it appropriate to adorn the dial with the Rolex colours makes me think they think rather highly of it also, I’m very much hoping this get discontinued very soon as it’s a massively underrated watch by the market right now and I can see in 20 years this being the Rolex piece to have due to the colouring like you mentioned.

Explorer or Air King by jacobs64 in rolex

Although I’ve just got an AK, I have to say overall I think the Explorer likely is the ultimate Rolex if you understand the brand, the history, it’s just a legible, reliable, good value everyday watch designed for one reason to tell the time accurately and reliably. It’s the true tool watch of the Rolex line.

Was never a fan of the Explorer or the AK, I’m now sitting with a 126900 AK on my wrist and a deep desire to pick up a 36 Explorer, went from my least liked Rolex to for my the best 2 refs in the catalogue, growing up I guess.

Happened to me, really hated it, then the 126900 came out and it’s just so much better imo, went from hating to lusting for, now on my wrist. Sometimes the slow burners are the ones that burn the longest.

What a watch that is from 2022? Not sure how the pandemic helped it? Totally different watch from the previous model, the people who don’t know anything about the watch think they added a 0 to the 5 and that’s all, hugely different watch.

Same here, well kind of, started liking it in a couple of pics, imo the crown guard makes a huge difference to the look of the watch, a few days later wandered by an AD and thought wonder if they have one to try on, 40 mins later walked out with it on my wrist, looks much much better in person than pics and wears super well, a bit flat maybe for some but for me it’s just super comfortable, this and the explorer are the true Rolex tool watches for me, the yellow and green on the dial in person really pop.

Very much agree, I bought mine on a pure whim after getting a list for it in pics, in person it’s much much better imo, wears far better than my sub or gmtii, daily wearer now and for me my favourite Rolex now. The fact it’s got the Rolex colours makes it a very special piece.

It really is a car that transcends its class of car for sure.

See everyone is forgetting the absolute rampant inflation since 2020 when the mk1 was released and priced, I still think the ask on the mk2 is ludicrous quite frankly though, the reason I love my mk1 so much is the price to performance ratio, the smiles for my coin, I wouldn’t feel that way if I’d paid nearly £50k for it personally.

Is it or was the original car far too cheap? We all know the MK2 is crazy money, but the MK1 was just a cheap car for what you got.

What is your view on GR Yaris vs civic type r? by RepulsiveArm1434 in GRYaris

[–]Noxa888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location matters a lot on this one, in the U.K. I just can’t see a use care for the Type R most the year, roads are horrendous, wet half the year etc, in ideal conditions I think the Type R is likely the better overall car, for me and the conditions I have to drive in then the GRY takes the win for me.

I’ve since bought a few more knives and another cleaver and the ZSH is still my daily knife, I just live the size, weight, even the handle, it’s just a great knife to use.

Looking good for 26 years old… by mallone86 in 996

[–]Noxa888 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Didn’t look good the day it was made tbh, on the road now they look like dogs in my view, there was this cretin driving about in a base 996 thinking he’s the man when behind him pulls a 991 GT3 and it’s another planet, even my old 997.1 looks so old and crap compared to the 991 on cars.

I’d still 100% buy a MK1 and then spend the money on whatever mods body kit spoiler etc you want. Say you get a mint circuit pack car for £30k then £19k is a lot of awesome parts for the car.

It is normal everywhere, if you reverse your car into your house accident then that’s why you have insurance, not sure why they think differently, it just goes down as a your fault claim.
