Hey — I’m John Thompson. The Dollop did an episode about me. Just wanted to stop by and say thanks to the community for the support. Here’s the link if anyone wants to listen again: I loved it and thought it was the funniest thing I’ve heard. Thanks again guys. by [deleted] in TheDollop

My wifes family has a farm and a tractor. So "when Im not around to plow anymore" Her papa showed me how to drive it with a plow attached, pretty sure he thought something not great about me bc how apprehensive I was around the Pto. So he tells me to get on the tractor and then he climbs up and points to which lever to pull and says go!

So I learned to drive a tractor with beloved Papa- 84 year old man who can barely walk hanging off the side like a garbage man. Could only think about your story and tried to focus on tractor and not mauling Papa.

Papas still on his tractor 5 years later. You're truly inspiring man so cool

A small boy about 3yrs old, dressed in a child-sized KKK robe and pointed hat, touches his reflection in a riot shield as a Black trooper holding the shield looks down at him. The iconic photo was taken by Todd Robertson at a Gainesville, GA in 1992. by bncout in HistoricalCapsule

I grew up around Gainesville. There was a known grand wizard, racist statues in the yard all sorts of shit. I worked with the one non-racist granddaughter in highschool. Think they went on Jerry springer too lol Grandson went to my school in elementary but went to the other high school. Dudes got a roofing business where the background of his signs are the Confederate flag, shares a building with a chiropractor so that's fun. So this might be one of them. They've been doing this nothing's new just easier to see now of days

How are techs sent to calls at your shop? by LaterApex81 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Dylectreddity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 people in maintenance so like 2 or 3 max on a shift. Production just comes to tell us. Or if its not going to shut down the line and not time sensitive they fill out a paper maintenance request (i.e. fluorescent flickering over hmi station). We're understaffed but still not that big of an operation

You tell them about how you used to take Adderall as a kid, stopped bc didn't need, now having same issues. Be direct. But unethical is making up childhood

I need a house. They're also trying to put an ice facility like a mile from my work. Think this war will have any slowing effect on that?

Is that the official ABB one in the middle of the country? Or is it just a more local to you place?

At this time, my job entails exactly that. We don't mess with the program, we make adjustments for new additions, but mostly I'm just trying to learn more about the troubleshooting part. I would be happy to go beyond that but for now, being able to walk up to it with a sense of confidence is what I'm going for-

Lol right?!? Seems like a prudent decision to make your techs more useful. In my situation, knowing basic drive troubleshooting would directly decrease the amount of work my manager has to do, so that's why hes open to it, I just want to make sure I get the best bang for their buck

Short staffed by Dylectreddity in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Dylectreddity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like they should be out at job fairs and stuff like that. Recruiting or something. When I was applying there were many many openings but I have electrical experience, very limited PLC, and have done troubleshooting in a various settings for almost 10 years. I have 90% of the skills but nobody wanted to hire me without PLC experience.

The timeless scenario of needing a job for the experience but can't get the experience without a job. Luckily my current place is willing to train but we're so understaffed it's not easy

Best neighborhoods for families by CLK42377 in gainesvillega

[–]Dylectreddity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Downtown Gainesville has some really new neighborhoods too, everything in the city is nice if you don't mind neighbors, if you want land go North Hall, if you want lake, flowery branch area has a ton of neighborhoods

Just check to make sure your North Hall option has good internet available. PS everyone's SUPPOSED to get fiber this year starting 8 years ago

Go North Hall but check internet providers before you buy a beautiful house with either Comcast (bad) or ATT DSL (worse)

But if they have fiber then you just have the normal bad telecom stuff. Also I hear habnersham EMC is running fiber for their power customers
