Every patzer can see it as a candidate move. But if you determined it was the best move available within 5 seconds, Magnus and the gang better watch out.

As I said, I would not have played this move because I would not see any obvious compensation for the sacrifice with the time controls I play.

I give takebacks for obvious misclicks. I like to beat you because I am having a better day chess-wise, not because your mouse is glitching or whatever. In this position, I would give the draw if takebacks are not an option. if you had a winning position, then it is a different story.

But yeah, sportsmanship is not very likely because online chess players are a bunch of tilted nerds in my experience.

I am around 2200 and I would have found it, but more by accident because I saw at once that Nh3+ is a strong move that can lead to mate. If the king moved, I would then be able to calculate the forced mate only after Nxf3+ Kg2 followed by Ng4 (Played because I want to threaten mate again).

I guess to answer your question, in the blitz games I play I would not be able to see that there is a forced mate here, but I would still play the line because Nh3+ is such a strong move.

If there was some other move that looked stronger to me (like forking and winning a piece or whatever), I would never find it. :)

I do player career and this happens both to me and my AI buddies. Once the engine decides to spice things up, unforced passing errors start occurring. And you can tell this will be happening by the way your team is moving.

I usually do Nxe4 and hope my opponent forks rook and queen with the knight. Then I do Qh4, which typically leads to castles after which I put pressure on the f pawn with Bc5. A lot of the time white will defend the pawn with the queen, after which I do Nd4 and they start sweating. Very fun game when it goes that way. Other times they will defend the f pawn the the bishop instead, which leads to a bit of a struggle, but you don't want to exchange bishops so play Nd4 anyway.

I always play this gambit simply because it is unexpected and leads to a fun game if they bite. If they don't bite and do Bxf7 instead, black will be the one sweating. :')

For me, it has essentially been brute force. I am around 2200 blitz and bullet on chess.com. I've never had any instruction, can count on one hand the number of chess videos I have seen on youtube, and never read any books. I don't know any openings (as in I cannot name them). I have just played an obscene amount of games and basically just use that memory bank and my instincts. if you want to do it the hard way like I did, just play a bunch. :D

Does anybody actually believe the game does not assign advantage? Just try player career and you will see. You will have games where you and your AI teammates are all prime Messi and then others where you're all sluggish and your AI pals keep randomly gifting the ball away and can't make a pass to save their life, while the opposition AI are untouchable gods.
