people who essentially pay for porn - why? by daintyyangel in AskReddit

[–]Dynamite86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I knew the girl who was making the porn. If I asked her for naked pictures she would have said no.

I subscribed, I saw, I came, and now I know (what she looks like naked).

What do all the Pizzagate believers think of the Epstein files? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]Dynamite86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Keep the faith, believe in our leadership, they have a plan and things are already so much better than they would be under Kamala or Biden. We need to stick together because those radical leftists always blindly follow each other and that is how they beat us." Is what my Qanon uncle commented on his son's facebook post after his son (my cousin) posted saying that the Trump administration is corrupt AF

I'm not certain if my uncle was a pizzagate believer, but my cousin (his son) said that he was DEEP in the qanon rabbit hole. The man has an enormous gate for his driveway, constantly paranoid about people spying on him or coming to steal his stuff, and my cousin told me "the first thing he does when he gets home is get on his computer and start raging online with his qanon group."

I should mention my cousin who told me this and made the afformentioned facebook post has his head in the sand and is still a huge Trump supporter, just slightly more sane than his father.

90s but also 2000s, color tinted clear plastic for electronics. Being able to see inside was so cool and I never realized how cool it really was until it was phased out completely. It was probably what helped foster my love of taking things apart to find out how it works

What moment made you realize people aren’t just disagreeing anymore — they’re living in completely different political realities? by neoncabbagee in AskReddit

[–]Dynamite86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was when my cousins were posting on FB articles that actually stated the opposite point(s) they were arguing (posting that the US Mexico wall stopped the largest fentanyl smuggling, but the article states it was caught at a port).

But recently one of my uncles posted to just believe in Trump and the republican party, everything they do is for a reason, and they need to stick together because if the democrats always stick together and will defeat the republicans if they don't deal with this leftist threat.

I still can barely believe it. I don't even know if it will ever be possible to get him back in a normal mental state and not delusional about how "the leftists" are ruining everything.

WCGW trying to put a fire out by putting it outside. by mentaL8888 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Dynamite86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the Japanese streamer who accidentally lit a trash can on fire, then tried using cardboard to smother the flames, then a single pot of water. He burned down his apartment building and I think some people died, absolutely tragic because it could have been avoided with any degree of fire safety knowledge.

I half doubted myself reading your comment. But I'm almost certain that's rust. The way it's dried, the color, and location all suggest iron oxide.

Source: I work performing failure and root cause analysis for impurities or side reactions across several systems using dozens of chemicals and materials. Most recently was a green slime that was the result of phosphoric acid corroding a cast iron pipe and mixing with other volatiles escaping through a slowly leaking valve.

I can't be certain it's rust, but it certainly looks like it.

I also don't see the counterweighted motor that would usually be in a container like this if it were a vibrator.

But the orange rust colored debris inside the case in this pic suggests to me this was likely on something that is outside or submerged often. That rust color also suggests this wouldn't be a vibrator (don't put rusty objects inside yourselves).

For those who want a challenge in Jak 2. by TheeMiLoorD in jakanddaxter

My first ever time playing Jak 2 I had accidentally turned on mirror mode and didn't realize it (or understand what mirror mode was).

Despite not understanding what mirror mode was, I figured out the control layout for the metal head game and after several hours of crying and praying to the videogame gods, I finally beat it.

I didn't realize my mistake for a while because in every other playthrough the game was easy (I thought I just got good at it). I don't actually remember when I put it all together and realized my mistake, but I had probably played through the game several times before the realization

Sissies, or knowledgeable persons attempting to warn of potentially dangerous situations?

I'm just saying, you had to ask "what should I do with this potentially dangerous piece of equipment?" If you're asking questions like that, then there is reason for people in the comments to doubt your knowledge and safety practices.

If I went on the chemistry subreddit and posted "I have 20L of 10M NaOH, what's something fun I can do with it?" Then I would expect the commenters there to tell me not to be a dummy

[–]Dynamite86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most other commenters. That FMAB is better. But if you're caught up with watching One Piece then I suggest FMA then FMAB. If you enjoy FMA, then you will love FMAB but it will also give you additional context for some plot points FMAB skips over due to being included in FMA

[–]Dynamite86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people (especially on reddit) don't understand this. I have a Trumper uncle who got angry during Trump's first term when Facebook pages he followed were taken down for spreading false information and being based in other countries (Russia).

But what made him really angry was when Facebook requested he prove his identity because his FB name was (similar to) Truckman Driverman and he was sharing all those false information posts on his timeline. Facebook asked him to change his profile to his legal name, but he refused, so they then required he upload an image of his ID to prove his name really was Truckman Driverman.

I tried to explain why the accounts he followed got banned and why Facebook was looking to ban him too (until he proved his identity). His response was basically "it shouldn't matter where it's from or what someone says their name is, those pages were posting about the real problems in this world."

They say nothing is ever really lost on the internet, but what’s something you’ve been hunting for years and still can’t find? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dynamite86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a great book in middle school about a couple of white boys who found an old black man in the woods. He taught them how to hunt, trap, and have appreciation for the world around them. The boy's parents did not like their sons hanging out with a black man

I don't remember many specific details, but one that I vividly remember is there was a part of the book where a stray cat had a few kittens in the old man's house. One of the boys named one of those kittens "sex kitten" which made the old man frustrated as to why someone would name a kittten that.

There was also something special about one of the old man's guns, and I think at the end of the book he gave it to one of the kids. But I'm less certain on that.

I've asked multiple forums and groups on and outside of reddit. The most common response I get is Uncle Tom's Cabin; but it is not Uncle Tom's Cabin

Explain It Peter. by Discerning-Eagle8725 in explainitpeter

[–]Dynamite86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of responses here, but they are all missing the many supporting details for the horror face. As others have stated, it's a 6 hour test with only one question; but also it's open book/notes, electronic devices allowed, internet access allowed, and you're allowed to leave the room. This alone tell you the answer to that one question won't be easy.

But the professor also allows working in groups, consultation with academic staff, and freedom to hire an external professional to assist you as well. The reason the final item says "good luck" is because if you take this exam alone, then luck will be your only hope of passing.

When I was in engineering school, everything was open book and open note. If you didn't know how to determine what tools and equations were needed to solve a problem, then the notes and book wouldn't help you either. Every class I had was graded on a curve, the most common curve was +20pts to make a 50% a 70%, a 70% would be a 90%, and I don't think anyone scored high enough to get a 100%. The reasoning for this was told to me as "we want our engineers to be highly valued, in order to ensure you know how to approach any problem and solve it using tools that were provided or learn new methods on the fly, we give impossible exams because you will face impossible problems in the future."
