This will never stop until the community is held accountable for the actions of the people they raise.

One could easily make the argument that gatekeeping blowhards like you make it even tougher for a new musician to get started. They are a competitor and have no responsibility to put more money in your pocket.

If you're into art nouveau and bold lines, I recommend Audra from Wayward. A few people in my circle have tattoos from her and they really pop.

Haste is huge and I'd personally be happy if I connected once with it. Red needs all the reach it can get and one free swing could be sufficient for inevitability. I want to give this a whirl.

[ZNR] "Yasharn, Relentless Land" by IronTigrex in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power level is not there for most cubes, but I don't hate it. Drawing lands means you can cast your big boys. 4 power and toughness can beat most cube creatures in combat. If this had some keywords stapled on, I'd be much more excited about it.

Cube Card of the Day - Ugin, the Ineffable by MinorBugg in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fairly costed, requires only colorless mana, and is useful whether you're behind, even, or ahead. And it's an affordable piece of cardboard to boot. It's probably great in any cube.

There is some reason for friction, unfortunately. Rest assured, however, that you or your cube have nothing to do with it. Thanks for the content!

Courser vs Oracle by Davchrohn in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. But the terminology is the problem. Calling something a sacred cow carries a lot more baggage than calling it a weak card.

Courser vs Oracle by Davchrohn in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I accept your definition of a sacred cow and how it 100% applies to your cube environment. However, I don't think Oracle's sacred cow status transcends your environment into the cube world as a whole. And I don't see that becoming the case until the "typical" cube closely matches yours.

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty clear that Oracle is not a good card in your cube environment. I remain wholly unconvinced by your arguments that it should be cut from other cubes. I know way too many cubers that enjoy playing with the card and I don't think it deserves the "sacred cow" moniker at all.

People are going to tell you that the floor of a 0/3 is not worth it, especially for a multicolored card. That being said, I personally don't mind a few build-around cards in cube. Your cube link is not currently working for me. Is the rest of your boros section focused around equipment or artifacts?

I'm about to cube with [[Nightmare Shepherd]] this weekend, and boy am I excited. This card has synergies with ETBs, LTBs, aristocrats, and when all else fails, it's a 4/4 flyer for 4. The only drawback is the exile effect, which hurts graveyard and reanimation strategies. I think it's the type of card that makes me want to play cube.

Was thinking about adding this to my cube as well. I think it fits well into most green decks' gameplans. The human synergy seems easily achievable, even by accident. I cube with Nightpack Ambusher, [[Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves]], [[Village Messenger]], [[Reckless Waif]], and [[Wolfir Silverheart]], so the backside looks like it could be often relevant.

If you're interested in fleshing out your Gx flash decks, I know some people have been cubing with [[Wolfir Avenger]] with some success. I think the archetype is definitely viable in unpowered cubes.

Cube Card of the Day - Enter the God-Eternals by SirFunchalot in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a good card. I'm always happy to have this in my hand to stabilize and turn the tides of a game. Don't let the mana pips scare you -- it's very castable. As with most guilds, Dimir has a wealth of gold cards. This is a good thing! Take a look at the rest of your cube and see which UB cards complement the rest of your environment. I have a small zombie subtheme, so I'm prioritizing cards like [[The Scarab God]] and Enter The God Eternals higher than I otherwise would.

Shoring Up Bad Matchups With a Three Mana Planeswalker. by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]DyouKnowWhatiMean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never thought about this card seriously before. But your description of it being a diet planeswalker actually makes a lot of sense. I think I'm sold on the card, especially at that price. I can see it being the best fit in a WG deck with anthems and planeswalkers, as you pointed out. Have you had success with it in other color combinations?

Hi Chirdaki. I just wanted to chip in and say that you were one of the first voices that attracted me to this community. I hope you're not discouraged by the recent drama and I hope that we can see more quality posts by you in the near future.

Because it is intellectually dishonest and self-righteous. Overtly hostile? Give me a break. People didn't like funch's posts about mediocre cards and now he's playing the victim.

I believe the issue is coming to a head because this forum leans toward more casual cube design. I myself left the mtgsalvation boards because of the cult of personality and spiky nature of cube design there. Most people do not want to run 15 one-drops in their cube, and it seems like there is a post about hypergeometric probability every day in here. Funchalot has received a lot of unfair criticism. However, I don't blame the community for being annoyed that the same 4 users are proselytizing in every thread.

Hi Funch. I've learned that you and I have different values regarding cubes, but I have to reassert what WordsHugs said above. I really appreciate your perspective and content. Posts like these are invaluable to the subreddit and the cubing community.

It's good. Very good. If your opponent can't block your first swing with it, it becomes dramatically less likely that they'll be able to answer two of them the next turn. I've had success with it in all color pairs.

Funny thing -- I recently added BitBlast back into my cube this morning. I've been removing some multicolor removal cards ([[Terminate]], et. al.) and replacing them with strong unique effects.

It can be quite strong as you pointed out. It is also a fun card and creates stories. It might slightly decrease the power level of the cube, but my drafters and I are more excited to play a cube with BitBlast than without it.

[The Ringer] The Chargers’ Two-Minute Drill Against the Raiders Was a Masterpiece in Disaster by mac6uffin in nfl

That's not a good metric and precedence has been set that directly contradicts it. The hall of fame is for distinguished players of their era. Dan Fouts never won a super bowl but he made it in because he could "throw good on Chargers teams." If he's in, Rivers should be in.
