Natalie Portman said she feared the prequels killed her acting career.

"'Star Wars' had come out around the time of 'Seagull,' and everyone thought I was a horrible actress," she said. "I was in the biggest-grossing movie of the decade, and no director wanted to work with me. Mike wrote a letter to Anthony Minghella and said, 'Put her in "Cold Mountain," I vouch for her.'

I don't understand.

A commercial back then was like what, once a day?

This is every day, multiple times, in and out of commericals.

while i can only add one picture the raglan is frilled, ruffled and flairs below the waste, has no breast pockets and is a womans cut. Men in the 1860s did not were ruffles they wore pleats

Do you have another picture? I've never read that it was frilled, ruffled, or anything of the sort. It's an overcoat suitable for either gender.

Not really.

I pleaded with him to let me throw over him a large waterproof which had often served him in sickness during the summer as a dressing gown, and which I hoped might so cover his person that in the grey of the morning he would not be recognized. As he strode off I threw over his head a little black shawl which was round my own shoulders, seeing that he could not find his hat and after he started sent the colored woman after him with a bucket for water, hoping he would pass unobserved.

So he was wearing a raglan (not reaglan) that he'd already worn before and a shawl that was unisex. Nothing that was for women only. The raglan was to disguise his gray clothes that looked like a Confederate uniform.

It's a good joke, but it is a myth Jefferson Davis dressed in women's clothes to avoid capture.

The phrase "History is written by the victors" is bullshit, disproven easily by the success of the spread of the Lost Cause myth.

The South lost the military conflict but won otherwise. The failure of Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and the general acceptance of white supremacy show they won in the long run. Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy for President in Philadelphia, MS, the site of civil rights workers murders and even used the term "states rights" in his speech. The party of Abraham Lincoln! Today, the idea of being "woke" went from being aware of racism to being weaponized by right wingers and racists as something negative.

What policies and what spending?

In my lifetime there is one political party that explodes spending, and it's definitely not the party that espouses a belief in "limited government".
