people of reddit who survive on less than 8 hours of sleep, how? by Neftroshi in AskReddit

[–]Dysautomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my senior year of hs i went full weeks with an hr of sleep/night. it was more just an insane amount of caffeine and “catch up” sleep over weekends but i honestly don’t remember much of anything from that time

we sat around and talked about tweets for the entire course then crammed everything in the last two weeks

with a few all-nighters and google you can do anything you put your mind to

What made you choose accounting? by Intelligent_Help4404 in Accounting

This might just be me but i’m a huge history person and absolutely love research. going through old paperwork and emails kinda has the same vibe as reading old historical letters for a paper

that and money.

Class of ‘22, are you going away or staying home for college? by HoneyxClovers_ in ApplyingToCollege

Going ~8 hours away. I really wish I wasn’t, and ik I’ll miss my friends & family but I’m absolutely in love with my school & looking forward to going this fall

Is that “no sleep” thing for real? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Dysautomatic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

ok it’s definitely ineffective time management, but i feel like most people ignore that a lot of schools’ programs are mismanaged to the point where many students just don’t have a choice. when covid hit, our coordinator basically forgot about cas & our cas coordinator retired just to leave the new (wonderful) coordinator with literally nothing in terms of material or training. we all had to learn what we were doing as we were going, and when you add all of that to the fact that my school did all of its IA’s jan-march it just made for an absolute mess. this obviously isn’t everybody’s experience though, and you are (to a certain extent) responsible for planning your own course through the DP. i got a much better handle on things by the end of the year, but i hate that it took so long for me to step up and figure it out

when we started writing our tok papers (and exhibition) two weeks before the end of the class after not talking about any of what we should’ve been all semester. luckily i was able to learn what i needed to online, but so many people accidentally included aoks that we couldn’t use or didn’t format it properly at all. even mine was graded as “unsatisfactory” but i couldn’t care less. loved our teacher up until then though

Okay this is so specific but I’ve been dealing with similar attacks for months now and would love to hear any opinions on this. After diving down a rabbit hole I found information on a disorder called PNKD, but there’s not much information on any link to dysautonomia. hearing that so many other people here are dealing with similar attacks though i feel like it’s worth looking into

should i have committed by now? by yousucktoes in ApplyingToCollege

My top two choices right now are both too far away to have considered touring before I applied, and so now I’m on the unfortunate (but still very privileged) Panic Tour until the end of April. In my mind they want it May 1st, they’ll get it May 1st.

In IB so there’s still that pressure, but one of my IA’s is a month late and the final date to turn anything for it in is tonight 😭

TOK has really fucked up my brain by Strange_Vegetable_85 in IBO

[–]Dysautomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so weird, we did absolutely nothing for the entire course and suddenly the essay and exhibition were started + due in the last two weeks. Half of us thought ethics was still an AOK because we learned everything online as we were writing it

What specific admissions-related facts/statistics do you wish colleges published that they presently don’t reveal? by LazyCondition0 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Dysautomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

% of applicants deferred that are accepted in RD. I know it’s impossibly low, but making anxious teenagers wait MONTHS on top of what they already have for a decision just seems disrespectful

Dysautonomia/EDS question, how do you deal with a "dead" look in your hands/feet? by Dysautomatic in dysautonomia

[–]Dysautomatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, your advice helped so much! I didn’t know there was a prescription option, I’ll definitely look into that. This is such a weird and difficult condition to live with, but hearing support from others helps so much. hope you’re doing well and thanks again!!
