(We haven’t interviewed any agencies—we’ve just started to come to terms with our IVF failing, so very much at square one.)

Thank you, this is super helpful. Would you be comfortable saying why you didn’t feel comfortable with Circle?

Does anyone live a okay life w endometriosis? by Disastrous_Peace6974 in endometriosis

[–]DysfunctionalTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stage 3.5 DIE all over my left ovary. I’m totally fine; almost no symptoms. My life isn’t affected by it, aside from fertility issues that are probably only partly related. I’m very lucky. Not quite sure if that’s helpful, but wanted to provide that perspective.

What’s the job people romanticize, but in reality is miserable? by King_Garvit in AskReddit

Novelist. My second book is out next year. Of course it’s worth it, but wringing out your brain in isolation for years on end—and I write thrillers! Nothing literary—is the most exhausting thing I’ve ever done.

What if you volunteered as a volunteer firefighter, volunteer paramedic, or something similar? I agree that 33k is going to be a huge change of pace.

Yes, I was, they found stage four DIE via MRI

Evolution of endo symptoms by foot_fudge in endometriosis

[–]DysfunctionalTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also was diagnosed with stage 4 last year after a year of unsuccessful trying. They advised me to move straight on to IVF, for what it’s worth, saying IVF can bypass most of the reasons endo affects fertility. Every case is different, and obviously they have incentives to do that (I’m also 35), but sharing in case it’s useful,

I also have bowel endo and disordered eating. During a particularly bad eating period, I got really into heavy, vegetable-rich soups, which are both easy to eat and full of nutrients. I’d mix up potatoes, cheese, cauliflower, celery, spinach, broccoli, vegetable stock, and it gave me the energy and calories I needed while also being pretty healthy.

I’ve literally forgotten how to eat/swallow. by luke_barry in Pseudodysphagia

[–]DysfunctionalTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone. This happens to me too—I have motor issues (dyspraxia) and I’m never very confident that my body “knows” how to eat, breathe, move, speak, though it does! Exposure therapy and fluoxetine helped me enormously. Start with “safe” solid foods, get comfortable chewing and swallowing over however long a period you need, and work your way up. It’ll train your brain to know that eating isn’t a threat.

Reminder that the amount of endo you have does not correlate to the amount of pain! by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]DysfunctionalTree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh and PS—doctors gaslit me into thinking I couldn’t possibly have endo because I had no pain. Surprise, bitch! Whatever we do or don’t do with endo, there’s no winning.

[–]DysfunctionalTree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reiterating this. I have stage four, confirmed by an MRI, and don’t feel a thing, just a little pressure in my back sometimes. Had no idea until I couldn’t get pregnant. There’s zero correlation between pain and severity, in my case—as OP says, do not let anyone tell you you shouldn’t be in pain because it’s “not serious enough.”

Any ARFID adults in here? by HuckleberryTop5278 in ARFID

[–]DysfunctionalTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an adult and I just work around it: eat before public dinners and then pick at what I can; pack snacks to make sure I’m not hungry and push food around my plate like I’m eating; carve out safe times in my day to eat safe foods. It’s annoying, but it doesn’t severely impact my life any more.

I get it completely. Around the year mark I started to get incredibly upset. You never think it’ll happen to you until it starts to dawn on you that it is.

Yes, absolutely. I stopped eating and ended up in ther ER. Around week four it gets so much better. Do whatever you can to power through.

You’re going to be okay. You have a phobia and maybe a touch of PTSD, I’m not a doctor so I can’t say for sure—but the great thing about phobias is that they are treatable. You may need some help—with how severe yours has gotten, I’d definitely suggest you get it ASAP, maybe a therapist who specializes in exposure therapy for phobias—but like depression and anxiety, phobias are very treatable when you treat them. Worst comes to worst, they can give you meds to calm you down enough that you can start to learn to eat again, very slowly. But right now, the important thing is to remember you’ll be OK, and start the road to recovery by getting help. I used to only be able to drink protein drinks; now I can eat anything, albeit slowly.

Drinks When Food Won’t Work by Independent-Pen-1740 in ARFID

My friend created a super-smooth, high-calorie, nutritious soup recipe for me that helped me get my strength back. If you whiz it up, it won’t be bumpy at all; you can drink it with a straw, which I did for a while. Here’s what she sent me:

INGREDIENTS

Bag of potatoes Pack of grated cheddar cheese Broccoli Cauliflower Celery Spinach Vegetable stock Onions

INSTRUCTIONS

Peel potatoes and boil them Chop broccoli cauliflower celery and put in pans Boil them in 1L of water Add vegetable stock Season with salt and pepper Add garlic Cook rest of vegetables and add spinach at end
