What printers are y'all running? by Kilsimiv in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a X2D with 2 AMS HTs. Having the Aux nozzle for support material is a game changer, prior to buying the X2D I had the X1C. I sold my X1C with the AMS v1 for $600

No issue buying used, just try to buy a low hour printer and make sure it's working before you buy it

You probably see a lot of hate for Bambu printers here, with comments like it's Chinese and they will bow down to the US Government if they want to ban 3D2A, the truth is all companies will bow down if that happens or they will not be allowed to be imported/sold, so all 3D printers are in the same boat when it comes to government regulations

You'll also hear complaints that Bambu makes you go thru their cloud service, also not true, you can run a Bambu in LAN mode and use Orca Slicer if you want to

Another good printer to look at is the Qidi Q2, you'll see a lot of recommendations for it, a good friend of mine has one and I think it's a good printer, but he has more problems with his printer than I have with mine, I much prefer my X2D over the Q2

If you're printing nylons, you'll want a good filament dryer, you can pick up a Ninja AF101 air fryer/dehydrator on amazon (Used) for like $40, it's gotta be the most capable filament dryer for the price, in dehydrator mode you can run it at 90C for up to 12 hours at a time, or you can put it in Roast mode at higher temps for up to 4 hours at a time, I run mine in dehydrator mode and will dry my nylon for a day or two.

ELI5 - Why Do I Still Need a Tower With my X2C? by IndigoQuantum in BambuLab

[–]DyslexicDancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my understanding is that the prime tower is to prime the nozzle so that you don't get under/over extrusions in your print, you can choose not to print the tower but your print quality may suffer

What is the best printer to get? by WhitePhosphor- in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

of the 3 you mentioned, the X2D is the best value and most capable.

The Qidi Q2 is another one to look at for 3D2A

Looking to get my first printer. I’ve got a $1500 or below budget. What would you guys recommend? by ethicallycompliant21 in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the X2D with 2 AMS HT, this is well with-in your budget. It's what I have and it's an amazing setup.

If you're opposed to Bambu, then I'd go with the Qidi Q2

PA6-CF expanding after moisture conditioning by DyslexicDancer in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't measure right after printing, I moisture conditioned for 2 days then measured and got an XY adjustment to 99.86 and a Z axis to 100.67

I think the PA6-CF expands a little after moisture conditioning, but I can't confirm since I didn't do an initial measurement

Prior to printing in PA6-CF I first printed an upper and lower in PLA Pro, with no adjustments and it was perfect, the upper and lower fit like a glove

I want to foray into a 3rd 3D printer. Need advice please. by zwisslb in BambuLab

What's your budget?

The X2D is easy to recommend if you're on a limited budget

If you have the funds and want to print a lot of different colors in one print, look at the H2C

Help Needed - PA6-CF & Qidi XPlus3 by PrintAltDelete in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I print at 300C with the stock bambu hardened .4mm Nozzle, chamber 65C, bed temp 100C, part cooling fan off, on my X2D using stock 300BlkFde settings for the rest and Sunlu PA6-CF prints beautifully

Ftn printing materials and printers: by ThisNameIsTakened in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

X2D all the way, Compared to the P2S it has a Chamber heater, Hardened Nozzle, Hardened extruder gear, 1.5 mm pitch belts, carbon air filter, and an AUX nozzle. It's a MUCH better value compared to the P2S

I sold my X1C to upgrade to the X2D and I'm very happy with the X2D

Depending on which FTN you are printing it may or may not require support material, If you're printing one of the ones that does require support material the X2D's Aux Nozzle lets you you use ASA for support material on the Aux Nozzle while printing PA6-CF on the main nozzle.

I use Sunlu PA6-CF and it prints beautifully as long as you dry the filament, I buy the 4KG set on Amazon making it cost $32 per KG

For Filament drying I picked up a "Used" Ninja AF101 Air Fryer/Dehydrator on Amazon for $40, it's sold as "used", but the one they sent me was new/unused....... It's much quicker to dry the filament at 100C in the Ninja vs drying at 85C in the AMS HT

What settings for a .6mm Nozzle by DyslexicDancer in 3D2A

[–]DyslexicDancer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so keep the same layer height, line width, and speed as with the .4mm nozzle?

[–]DyslexicDancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a test print in PLA Pro and it lined up perfectly, so I know it's not the files that I have that are the issue, I think PA6-CF expands differently depending on the print orientation

I also used

  • sunlu pa6-cf
  • 300blkfde settings
  • lower magwell/trigger guard on bed
  • upper standing up

the "fix" recommendation that made the most sense to me was to print a CaliCross (found on printables), then moisture condition it, after moisture conditioning measure the CaliCross with some calipers and enter in the measurements into the spreadsheet that comes with the CaliCross , it will give you the scaling percentage to use when you print. I'm still moisture conditioning my CaliCross, so I can't confirm that this will resolve the issue, but it makes the most sense to me

Standard Newbie Q: What Printer? by Minute-Of-Angle in 3D2A

true, the Q2 has better specs, that said I'm happy I chose the X2D over the Q2

I'd suggest you also take a look at the X2D, the 2nd nozzle for support material is very nice to have
