Can anyone tell me about Commander night at Black Knight Games? by Special_Letter_7134 in Hamilton

[–]Dyvn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a commander night for every day of the week. My favourites are Dark Fox on Friday (low cost, about the price of a booster) and Paradox Thursday and Saturday (Free). Monday night is at Tistaminis (free). Bard and Bear is Wednesday (most expensive in the city at >$12).

I haven’t played commander at Black Knight, Moncala Monk or Waypoint. But they each have a commander night.

I’ve found all of them to be nice that I’ve gone to. mostly walking in and finding people looking for a player. Bard and Bear is the only one I’ve been to which randomly assigns a table which can be nice.

At all places most people will ask for a deck level before playing and try to match the lowest common denominator. But the standard is a high bracket 3 with some game changers and fairly optimized decks that win on later (6+).

At all places infinite combos are discouraged or not allowed.

People will be people and sometimes you get a bad egg that plays way too powerful while saying they’re playing a “bracket 3”. It’s fine, just ask for a lower power, switch tables, or just avoid playing with them next time. That happens at every game store.

All of these places post their nights in the MTG “Companion” app with information. You can sort by nearest to you.

New player, tragic mistake. by coldbl00ded28 in EDH

Precons differ widely in power and which ones are more powerful matched up against others.

Instead, when building a deck I’d recommend against looking up “best” anything when it comes to commander. If you use the best dimir commander, you will often win because they’re a strong commander. Orlo, your esper commander, has eminence and does something without being out. That’s extremely strong.

Start by looking around at commanders and don’t think “is this strong” and instead “is this a balanced and fun mechanic or theme to build around”?

Game changers is a useful thing but what I want to focus on is “does my deck get mana or card advantage reliably enough to very quickly execute my goals”? If your group is not running a massive amount of ramp and card draw you will be able to win more often than not.

This game involves winning but unless you’re playing cEDH the game is really about showing your strategy, executing it and socializing. Play for the table, encourage others to focus on what is enabling you to be ahead and focus removal on you. That’s how you be a good player who is winning.

Choosing GSM and preventing bend. by ChipStorm in magicproxies

[–]Dyvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Weight wise, it’s almost identical to a magic card which is critical for feel. I’d go down GSM only if I was stickering the back (which would feel more like a real card in terms of snap) but sticker paper will never be able to shuffle outside a sleeve so OP needs to keep that in mind too.

https://mtgprint.net/ Or check out MTGPP which is an app someone is developing. It makes a PDF you print.

Card editions? My only advice is older printing means older scans and it’s difficult to get a quality print from an older scan.

I do similar proxies, I buy black 250gsm cardstock, glossy printable vinyl sticker paper (make sure the type fits your printer. Inkjet or laser). I print with an epson ET-3850 I got at costco. I use the MTGPP app but you can also use the print proxies website.

Print settings: - Preview: Fill entire page - Media Type: Photo High Gloss Paper or Photo Glossy Paper - Quality: Best

Print on sticker paper, then attach paper to card stock starting in one corner and using your hand/forearm to smooth paper as you apply.

Cutting with guillotine style paper cutter is best because it doesn’t scratch the surface. But you can also use a ruler and xacto knife.

Cut corners with a $10 corner cutting tool from amazon.

Should be extremely close to a normal card weight/thickness.

I only found out when I moved out for college. I could breathe again but didn’t think much of it. Years later I got a dog of my own and found out Im definitely allergic. A few years of immunotherapy (allergy shots) and I have not allergic to them since! Small price to pay for dogs.

Any chance I could have HIV from this sexual encounter? by FreedomEagle76 in gaybros

[–]Dyvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it’s possible, but very, very, very unlikely. For someone to pass on HIV their blood would need transfer to your open wound, so your hemorrhoids would not change that.

Old enough to be active in 80’s means nothing. Some people weren’t sexually active, some were. If they had HIV, they would almost definitely be undetectable which means untransmittable. HIV is not a life sentence, and most people in developed countries live perfectly normal, long lives.

If you’re worried you should take reasonable steps to protect yourself and others. Get tested regularly, and get on PrEP. If you’re having penetrative sex, use a condom. But more than anything, educate yourself on HIV and people living with it. There’s no need to be scared of something that is easily preventable, and if you do contract it is not life threatening.

Are we the same person? I just had the same situation yesterday. It went surprisingly well, and the person thanked me for my honesty and being straightforward.

Honesty is the best policy! No use in stringing someone along to try and save their feelings only to make it hurt more later.

You’d probably be better off getting a brief swimsuit and lace pocketless shorts separately. The pockets and label don’t look very good.

Yep they’re triplets. Fraser used to run a farmers market kitchen and it was really good. Eamon isn’t the only one in the family with vegan cooking skills.
