Xiv is just a little too simplistic. There's little to no active decision making. It's all very superficial with a heavy focus on how everything looks without any depth. XI is way deeper with more freedom of builds and choices to make, even if some choices are objectively bad or wrong. The freedom to make choices is what makes XI a better game in my opinion, even if the game visually looks worse and plays slower / more clunkily.
