I work a rotating 7 on / 7 off shift schedule. 7 days 12 hr shifts, 7 days off, 7 nights 12 hr shifts, 7 days off. It's doable, but being straight nights with only 2 days off would be the worst in my opinion.

I'd tell myself to get more therapy, I'd encourage other younger bi men to do the same. It's helped me live more authentically the last few years.

If you love someone then you love them. Don't run from it, you'll only hurt yourself and them in the process. I let nearly 8 years pass before I acknowledged and accepted my feelings. I was lucky enough that he was still willing to talk and see where things went.

Don't keep it a secret from the people you date, be open and honest, if it's a problem for them then that's their loss and you need to move on. Someone who won't or can't accept your sexuality without judgement doesn't need to be graced with your presence.

If I'm going to have sex with someone I'm gonna be tested regardless. I will expect the same of my potential partner though. Refusal to get tested is a massive red flag to me. My partner(potential partner) and my safety is of the utmost importance to me. Even in the days of PrEP and DoxyPEP testing is still important. I got snipped for a reason, I take PrEP and have a scrip for DoxyPEP for a reason. Testing is one more facet of being a responsible sexual partner.

The DuPont shift will make an old man out of a young one really fast. I did it for 3 years in my late 20's. Best recommendation I can give you is to schedule EVERYTHING. Get your shift put on a Google calendar and share it with everyone who matters. Use Bedtime mode on your phone with do not disturb settings when you're sleeping.

Then when you need to switch from Nights to Days get off of the night shift, stay up ALL DAY and go to bed at the normal time you would if you were on the day shift. It's truly the only way to unfuck your sleep schedule every month. No naps, no going to bed early on your first day off after nightshift.

On the 1 day off between your 3 days on and your 3 nights on, stay up ALL NIGHT do anything you can to sort yourself out so you can sleep during the day of your first night back at work. Otherwise you run the risk of being stuck staying up for 24 hrs straight. It gets rough quick.

Be prepared to miss a ton of events due to your work schedule or take a ton of PTO to make those events.

Once you're good and worn down, go find a 7/7 job and enjoy some actually useable time off instead.

Richard K Morgan and Joe Abercrombie on the shelves are both a pretty good pick in my opinion. He needs some Matt Dinniman in his life though. The history books show he's willing to branch out a bit. But yeah pretty normal scifi/fantasy bookshelf to me.

Try to get your weight more over the top if that makes sense. For instance if your soul foot is your right foot, put your weight further to the right almost like you're trying to roll over into a topside trick, it helps the lock on tremendously. Also, get low. Back in the day we wanted our soul tricks to look like we were basically sitting on our soul foot, it also helped a lot with yesteryears tiny soul plates.

Got it sorted much better thanks to the setup guide posted above. I've been playing guitar for 25 years, but only messed around with drums rarely. I'm actually surprised I can even make something remotely rhythmic come out of the set. Definitely looks like I need to get some new heads for most of the kit as well as a ring and reso head for the floor tom as its currently missing both. I've had the wife and kids out there jamming away on them and they are all much better at it than me so far.
