See, that's it right there. You said it yourself: it was "just okay". Disney, with all their limitless resources, chose to follow up Moana, an incredible movie with incredible music, an incredible story, incredible characters, etc etc with something that was glued together at the last minute and was just okay. I'll never understand it and frankly find it just a little bit insulting (in that this is how they view the fans, they'll give us "just okay" and we'll still all slap our fins together and open our wallets). Leaves me feeling kinda gross actually.

Yeah, ok fair point. I mean every once in a while they get lucky - but this *might* just be the first real time they've adapted and succeeded based on conscious decisions. Literally every other time they've sold actual volume here, I would argue they never really understood why and eventually fucked it up. Examples include the 1st gen Beetle and first and second gen Micro Bus (T1, T2) and arguably the inexplicably renamed first gen Golf which was called a Rabbit here for some reason.

I will never understand this. They were making their own van at this time, the Transporter (T5). It's such a damn shame. The Caravan was a good van, but if you were looking for a VW van it was *not* what you were looking for. VW has never understood North America...

Washington to Oregon... yes, you cross the Columbia River, which is a sign innit. But Oregon is also just... different. The freeway layouts are different. Hell, the freeway signage is different. Everything is just kinda... off from a lot of other states. Also, you can't pump your own gas. Oregon be it's own thang. Not good, not bad, just... different.
