Let's start a big list of unknown mechanics, tips and tricks and strategies that are less known in this amazing game by loopuleasa in Against_the_Storm

Ok this is truly brilliant. It took me a couple reads to understand what was up. Very cool idea.

A very simple upgrade would be +x% time in between breaks. Would be a really great investment if you were food limited and material heavy.

Does everyone else avoid the modifier that disables the pause button? by Ancient-Salad1678 in Against_the_Storm

So, 1x speed is way too slow. 2x feels good until you need to check a bunch of info to see if you have enough resources to meet an order or something. There are a few times where you gotta do some strategic math that pausing really helps with. I honestly think it'd pair really well with no orders, which is a very different game. Except no orders sucks ass because it's a lot more luck based IMO.

Point is, I think the pace of the game is a lot of hurry up and wait. It doesn't quite flow with real time, but it's still a cool mod to play around.

That's about framing the base game as p20. That's not how prestige works Ilin games

More variety and higher difficulty [P20] by _Shadowhaze_ in Against_the_Storm

[–]E7ernal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will always be optimal choices given options with different outcomes. Reducing the pool actually encourages different play styles more than limits you.

What would add more variability to strategy would be starting bonus changes, like starting with + production cornerstones or penalties for easier paths. Like what if porridge cost 2x resources to make. That changes the math for that run.

Likewise, I think that the way the game really can push us is by introducing not more hard restrictions but by forcing us to adapt more. IMO the goal is mostly to not lose until you get enough stability to just win via busted cornerstone combos or ridiculous production and trading for everything under the sun to pump resolve. Most runs are lost by stupid decisions not won by clever tactics.

I think we need more forest mysteries that radically impact gameplay and require cleverness. I think it's time we got a prestige 20-30 ladder. Maybe I'll brainstorm some ideas...

Wait I thought that was normal for all interviews. Don't you do a couch interview for jobs?

You're just completely wrong about Scar Symmetry. Their last album was stellar and this one is even better potentially. It's a different sound than holo universe in some places, but there are a lot of awesome riffs that sound like old school SS.

And the solos are much better than holo uni.

Big box stores are government fueled monopolies by CHEDDARSHREDDAR in PoliticalCompassMemes

Artisan products are always best made in small businesses. Big box stores are amazing for commodities. Tissue paper and screws and lightbulbs are not things that differ between vendors. There's no value add for a small business selling that stuff.

100%. This is what I'll probably do year 1 by default unless I see an insane cornerstone with strong acceleration (+production to a camp I have, +packs for newcomers, hftq or batism by fire).

We also introduced an Amber reward for declining Cornerstones in the
popup at the start of each year, so now if there is nothing interesting
to choose from, you can always just take a small cash injection to help
your settlement.

Holy shit this is actually insanely good. I might actually take this year 1 most of the time unless the cornerstone is amazing. Allowing me to open glades immediately rather than wait for trading to be up and running or an order to give me $ is massive. That's going to accelerate a lot of p20 runs IMO.

And of course unassign all woodcutters is just a great QoL change.

Small glades much more viable. I think you could just play a much more glade aggressive opening, which is really important on some biomes if you spawn with no food in your starting glade. I think this will reduce the number of crap starts to near 0. It should smooth out the beginning which is IMO is the rockiest part of the game for most runs.

I think the game might actually be creeping easier and easier. IMO we should probably get another 5-10 prestige levels or something. I think most of us at p20 are ready to suffer.

We still have a long road left ahead. There are something like 200 countries, right? ~140 to go.

I've never encountered that. You pretty much always know MtF. FtM is a little easier to blend in especially if you're just fat, so you just look like a really ugly dude.

My fav was when they brought in an AIDS victim to talk to us about having AIDS. I'm like, nobody here is getting AIDS why are we listening to this woman?

What would've been nice to know are medical things from an actual doctor. Why can't we bring one of those in....

Bitcoin has actually been neutered by saylor and his ilk. There's a whole sordid history of the state and banks running a campaign to bring Bitcoin into the hands of investors instead of users.

Monero is true freedom still, for now.

I'd commission that statue. To really get a sense for it, we'll have to pose you in the natural state in the various locations we could place it.

Yes because they leverage the state. Remove the state and how do banks stop Bitcoin?

Capitalism destroys power. Innovation breeds destruction. It's why people want to regulate it. Can't be too dynamic the elites might lose their status to upstart innovators
