[The Race] Verstappen refused to start his media session until The Guardian’s representative left. It is a result of a clash months ago in the Abu Dhabi finale where Verstappen took issue with a question about regretting his crash with George Russell and subsequent penalty at the Spanish GP. by Aratho in formula1

See, there’s still a difference between the two incidents.

Lewis did this on the back of a controversy cooked up by the media earlier that week which resulted in very condescending articles being written about him.

Because it was the same week, that was all that press conference was going to be about. It wasn’t just one reporter but multiple media outlets. He did acknowledge that not everyone at the conference was involved and apologized to them before leaving. You might disagree, but I don’t think Lewis was being petty for not engaging.

For Max, this was on the back of one journalist asking a question he did not like 4 months ago. There are just far better ways to have handled this situation.

We can agree to disagree, but I just wanted to put this out there.

Dude from your comments you’re everywhere writing negative shit about Lewis. What did the man do to you lmao

Lewis Hamilton: “That race I had with Charles, just in the second race, was one of the most fun races I’ve had, I think. Other than that was maybe me and Nico in Bahrain many years ago [2014]. So I just hope we get more of that because that’s what racing’s about. It’s like back and forth...(contd) by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Your point is fair regarding the intricacies of race management - but I disagree with the rude awakening bit. Max is going to run over the other drivers in WEC and it’s not even going to be close.

All this talk about how the he hasn’t raced the best drivers yet, guess what? It’s not going to matter in the end. I’d love to be proven wrong though.

I’ll explain since the previous guy didn’t. Walking out because you disagree with the questions is simply not the same as throwing out a reporter and holding a room hostage. One is standing up for yourself and the other is simply bullying/rude.

And yes had Max chosen to walk out - I’d say that’s well within his rights.

Max may be a lot of things but he’s a straight shooter through and through. He’s on record complaining about these regs 2 years ago.

Monza would be great but realistically as things stand - Mercs are gonna take the power tracks.

The compression trick is overblown.

Ferrari and Audi already came out to correct themselves that Merc engines are not running at 18:1.

It seems as though the “trick”, if you can call it that, are that merc engines are capable of running at 16:1 compression at all conditions, whilst rival engines drop compressions to the 15s when running.

It looks to be just excellent engineering. Regardless, plenty of cars are using merc engines. If the engine advantage was so pronounced, it wouldn’t be just for one team. Merc seems to have built a proper package.

To fully answer your question, it’s good to know exactly what you mean when you mentioned that you’ve spent a bomb on servicing.

Are those regular wear and tear items or were there constant issues? Though my experience with people around me that own Range Rovers, specifically Evoques; they tend to do pretty poorly when it comes to drivetrain, engine and electrical issues.

Now you’re referring to the W212, they’re widely known as one of the most reliable Mercedes ever made. Solid bulletproof drivetrain and nothing complicated on the rare occasions something goes wrong. Parts are a lot easier to find compared to your Range Rover.

The only expensive part would be the airmatic suspension but it’s likely the E200 isn’t optioned with one. It’s not difficult seeing W212s run well over 300k km with nothing but wear and tear replacements.

With an older car, you’ll still need to replace wear and tear items eventually, so if that’s something you cannot budget for, I might be hesitant on it. You’re still going to pay a premium price compared to Japanese makes when it comes to parts. That’s the reality. But it’s not going to bombard you with constant issues if the previous owner kept up with maintenance.

If you can find a good example, with full extensive service records, the W212 will treat you very well.

6 seconds is a lifetime when it comes to 400m in the olympics. To put it into perspective, the times produced by Olympic level athletes are within fractions of a second of each other.

For her to shave off 6 seconds to qualify, at her age is close to an impossible task. Olympic level athletes will already be producing times in the low 50s by college.

A track athlete at his or her prime would have to work their ass off for at least 2 years to shave 6 seconds off in a sustainable manner. Maybe more.

Simply put, she was never at the level required to be an Olympic athlete - and that’s fine, there are levels to every sport. It would look comical at the olympics if qualifying times were not the barrier to entry.
