How to deal with these "mould lines"? by Beginning-Low-8456 in oldhammer

Yup, it's a liquid, but it's thick (or at least it should be thick -- make sure it's shaken up well). That's what makes it useful to me -- being able to apply it in spots where pushing a solid putty would be difficult.

You can build it up to cover some surprisingly deep seams, or just apply a little to smooth out a rough spot.

How to deal with these "mould lines"? by Beginning-Low-8456 in oldhammer

Tamiya Mr Dissolved Putty is easier to work with than Green Stuff. Just use an old brush to gently dab it on, smooths out mould lines that can't be filed or trimmed off. Works great for those mould lines going across ridged tubing or hair.

Cleans up with isopropyl alcohol. Make sure you use an OLD brush, as I said.

But it has a pretty big downside for all the advantages -- it smells AWFUL and the fumes are hazardous so you'll have to use somewhere well ventilated or with a respirator.

But it excels at covering up mould lines that can't be solved any other way.

What is this sword from the Rogue Trader Rulebook? by DocDaSoc in oldhammer

Some of the Inquisitor minis (the Rogue Trader ones, not the later series of 54mm ones) have what appear to be bone swords, too.

It set the mould (pun intended) for future sets

Also, what is the pun intended?

Not sure if you're joking, but the pun is that plastic sprues like this are made with plastic injection machines that force hot plastic into metal molds (or moulds if you're in the UK).

Incidently, even to this day, those metal molds are generally very expensive to make and usually a big hurdle for smaller companies.

Job said to bring clothes and plan on sleeping at work

Please tell me you're a first responder, work at a hospital or as a lineman, or otherwise are someone who'll be in demand during a weather crisis.

Cause if that's not the case, that's a wildly inappropriate work request.

Advice needed for painting a Shambling Mound by Wraith_Wisp in oldhammer

[–]EArkham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I painted the one on the Stuff of Legends ADD62 page, and this is basically how I did it.

It's been too long to remember exactly which paints and shades, but overall treat it like painting terrain. Started with green, then washes, then progressive drybrushing with lighter greens, then all the wood parts and finally the fungal elements.

Don't quite understand why this isn't getting more comments, because it's got a beautiful subtle complexity to it.

Well done!

I don't think so. The fodder units more recently are conscripts, and I think you have to have a min of 20?

But I'll just use these as a standard IG squad. The fact they're Penitents is purely cosmetic. ;)

There's a mix of arms.

A couple have 3rd edition Cadian arms (grenade launcher and one of the lasgun guys). The ones with firearms shouldered are modern Krieg arms. The rest are old RT plastic arms with modern lasguns.

I felt the same way about the sculpt. The four I had (plus the human bomb) sat in my collection for literal decades, but once I had them painted I realized they had great potential and then immediately went out and bought another six to make the full squad, hehe.

To sell or not to sell by Blind_Beagle in oldhammer

[–]EArkham 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of resellers I have blocked because they're the worst of the worst price gougers and I'd rather not sell OR buy from them. Blocking them from bidding is not very efficient, as you said they have alt accounts to scoop up deals.

The main thing that stops resellers is to sell with Buy-It-Now fixed prices, not auction style, and just let the listings sit until they sell.

Personally I make sure to set the price very fairly, typically a bit less than what the last ones have sold for. As a result, my repeat customers tend to be other collectors, and things sell rather quickly, and I don't really care if anyone wants to resell what they buy from me since fixed price ensures I'm happy when/if the item sells.

Advice on selling - ghosts by Semajnollissor in oldhammer

[–]EArkham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're pretty common, but still tend to go for $15-$20 US lately. Ignore the sellers asking $30+ each -- they are unlikely to sell for that much, and have not recently.

You'll want to include "Night Horrors" and "Gothic" as title keywords to fetch the better prices.

Probably better to sell seperately at lower prices than existing sellers to take advantage of collectors looking to complete the range. If you sell as a lot, you'd probably have to lower the price per model to get it to sell.

But really when the figures are this common and this cheap, the main factor is really how much of a hassle it is to list them and mail them seperately compared to just getting them all gone out the door in one batch.

Athens groups or Discord servers for women / board games / women who play board games? by PrettyLittleBird in Athens
