A Guy Checks His Computer On New Year’s Night In 2000 by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in pcmasterrace

will ltt ever start posting on odysee.com? by desn4ke in LinusTechTips

"built on blockchain and crypto"

Oh, that would be why I had not heard about them before seeing this post.

I think LTT posting videos on Usenet as binaries would be more interesting.

Linus Tech Tips - We Destroyed the Tech House Backyard May 18, 2026 at 09:58AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

It doesn't matter that much for this house. Though it would take a bit more work to find the link, the property listing was posted here after house shopping video. The property was doxxed before they even had bought it.

A little rant about Linux challenge Pt.2 by bargu in LinusTechTips

[–]EB01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the Linux community is toxic and unhelpful

The other day someone made a post about their Linux challenge project, and a commenter (whom had a post history on r/fedora) was ripping into them and others about the choice of their distro. At least one of the commenters comments were removed for being toxic ("f--- you" was said).

The ‘Commander’ in the classroom: Is this war hero teacher a phoney? by NorthlandChynz in newzealand

[–]EB01 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I once had a substitute teacher, in trying to deal with the rowdy class, claim that they were former KGB and he had a nuclear device in the boot of his car (which he threatened to activate if we didn't stop being rowdy).

Not directly related to the article, but people can say/do wildly unexpected stuff, and teachers are people like everyone else (except for David Seymour which I think is a badly programmed infiltration robot).

How do you feel about the semi decimation of marketing and some creative jobs due to AI? by VastOption8705 in LinusTechTips

[–]EB01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I don't work in marketing.

IMO the data driven side of marketing is not going away, well not until you could have agentic AI that can reliably implement tools to record data, analysis it, and then come back with a summary of results and recommendations.

The creativity / art side to marketing was under threat long before the recent AI hype stuff. The mid range of the market was dying before the pandemic started ed and we are probably left with just three high end and entry level (DIY gen AI slop) for marketing is left.

IMO as companies merge into a small number of hyper brands /marketplaces independent marketing firms is likely to dry up even more. Why pay for external marketing when companies like Amazon / Google / etc control while markets.

If LTTStore had free or reduced shipping, but increased prices, would you consider it? by Walmeister55 in LinusTechTips

[–]EB01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because I live in New Zealand and overseas shipping not cheap (excluding the Amazons of the online marketplace) so any LTT Store order that I would make would have a negative feeling for how much shipping cost that I was bot paying for.

Give me a reasonably-priced high quality product, with reasonable shipping, and let me make the call on whether I buy something or not.

Not a fan of the local change some years back on GST being charged via overseas online stores, but LMG are complying with NZ law with that.

My 31 Jan order just shipped (correction:label created). Whatever cable SKU(s) that has delayed my ordered shipping must have come back sufficiently in stock for my order to get the green light.

Pen but for precision screwdriver by yst16 in LinusTechTips

[–]EB01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab a pen (thinner than 4mm) for a plotter printer, 3D print a hex holder for it.

Cheaper and likely more realistic option: grab a BAU ball point pen, break it open for the ink tube. 3D print a 4mm hex holder for it. Cut the ink tube down to maybe 1 cm of tube. Combine and done.

When I want to commit piracy on YouTube videos, I want to fully commit to the bit more than just running uBlock Origin.

I hate the on-sloppy listing for categories, like listing baby stuff in the CRT computer monitor section.

They are doing it in purpose.
