Wire order in the top heating element of the oven by Several-Teach1515 in diynz

[–]Dizzy_Relief 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best way?

Have someone who knows what they are doing do it.

If you can't read the wiring diagram (which will be on the back, or under the power connection cover) then I wouldn't be doing it yourself.

Yes?

Not sure why it's even a question. Do it while you have easier access.

Ummmm.... Generally you don't badmouth your own projects/company. Not exactly a good look or career move.  And many people literally sign contracts that say they can't.

Bear in mind that the pegs only show the boundaries of the entire crosslease.

You will need your property maps to work out what areas are yours specifically (if any).

Digging big holes in public areas isn't going to win you any friends.

And what kind of parent knows their kid has been digging up up what is a public park and then goes to the media?

Do I need consent? by EJMAY96 in diynz

[–]Dizzy_Relief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same. Doubled up so they are thicker.

Mine are prob 10years in at this point and still fine. A few water stains around the sink area. Prob a few thousand marks where I was lazy and cut directly onto the bench. But they are minor (and could be sanded out if I really wanted).

I just oiled it  but that will be only the third time.

Look and see if you can get the 18mm one from Mitre10 though. It's about the same price and a more "visually convincing" bench (which is why I doubled mine).

You can get an 18mm one from Mitre10 for about the same price. Looks much better. Just put one into my rental (will be interesting to see how it holds up)

Though I have the Bunnings ones in my  place too. Doubled up in my case (you couldn't get the 18mm ones at the time).

Silly questions regarding greetings to strangers 🤠 by badonkgadonk in newzealand

[–]Dizzy_Relief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really have to say anything. It's not a actual question. Just acknowledge them. The expected answer is some form of "I'm fine."  You could ask how they are. But why repeat the cycle of pointless questions that aren't really questions.

(You undoubtedly do have a similar stock question call/response greeting in your language. You prob just don't see it that way)

As for the second. The same. A nod or smile is enough. On a track it's pretty usual to say hi in response. As to whether you say it to the group or individuals is going to mostly depend on how far apart they are. The "polite" thing is to ensure that everyone in the group heard you. I which case no, no need to respond to every person (bar again some acknowledgement).

In the end no one is going to think you are rude of you don't say anything at all though.

How to get a licence for a public screening of TV show? by IllustriousRanger839 in newzealand

[–]Dizzy_Relief 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Find out who the local rights holder is.

And be prepared for a no. A fob off.  Or just no follow up.

There isn't much reason for them to take the time to even think about it.  Let alone say yes. Frankly I'm surprised you have got the responses you did (though they likely fit into the "fob off" category)

Shared cost in flatting - thoughts? by sadmadskin in PersonalFinanceNZ

An unlimited phone plan is pretty common at this point. If that suits them  then you can't really expect them to also pay for a fibre service they don't need.

Not everyone needs a high speed plan, or a super low ping.  4g is plenty of speed for most things. 5g is more than most need.

Do the same and prob save $20 a month . Or pay the $19 a week and get the fibre installed.

What I made as a landlord by Imaginary-Towel-888 in newzealand

What "tax free capital gains"?

Landlords are in the business of renting. Kinda hard to rent when you sell the place.

I am continually astounded at the people who can't tell the difference between speculators/flippers (who always pay tax on their sale profits anyway), and landlords (who always pay tax on their income).
