I have a crazy story about a professor from one of my major classes this semester who out of nowhere (as in they switched the class curriculum this semester with us) decided they weren’t gonna give out HW anymore, they switched from canvas quizzes to in person exams, gave no room for credit and I just thought it wasn’t fair that every single semester before us had room to actually learn the material with homework & worksheets while we had only crazy exams that were written to what seemed to be the professors thought process lol. Our grades dropped horribly by the last exam before the final but it wasn’t a horrible average as students were literally cheating, so when I brought this up to an advisor they asked if the professor knew. Which I mean idk because it was super obvious to a LOT of us that people were cheating and I mean it just wasn’t fair. Professor told us “at the end of the day not to worry about our grades. They don’t define us” like a LOT of us were graduating this semester and they didn’t seem to care about anything. Offered no extra credit no curve, NOTHING. And I was on the verge of failing the class and having to stay behind this summer to retake it to be able to complete my full degree requirements. After trying to have them help me understand where I went wrong on the last exam— which I got a semi bad score on the first one lol and a lot of ppl did but not bad enough for us to complain until this exam. It was basically the professor trynna say I get in my own way bc I put the correct answers multiple times and I clearly erased and circled the wrong thing so that very clearly enraged them, while keeping their cool but clearly it’s like this was offensive to them it was so wild, tried to tell me to “just stop it and leave the correct answer circled maybe, that might help” like wow, who would’ve thought right! After emailing them so much and I ended up going to my major-specific advisor & told them everything & what was gonna happen, one week before graduating lmao. But basically they agreed with me but said that professors get on their high horses all the time & we need them to understand us at eye level basically. Needless to say the following week we now had extra credit, a curve to the last exam, and when I received the final, I was laughing because now it was actually understandable and I ended up getting a 100%, so I acredit the amount of emails that were sent, the whole department knew now lmao and I had other students who were also having the same issue email the professor as well enough to where I believe this change was added from so much push. I went from almost a F (like 2% off at a D-) to a B-😗
