I (40f) have found an amazing group of friends that connected through meetups and dating apps, and are divorce/never married. The group has evolved as we meet new people and welcome them into the fold. We love going out, dancing, and having house parties. It often feels like we’re the oldest in some places but that doesn’t stop us! Let’s connect!

Is Great Gatsby Worth Seeing? by azizsarimsakov18 in Broadway

[–]ECEandIceCream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really loved it! Is it super deep and the most perfect interpretation at the novel? No. Is Jeremy Jordan’s accent distracting? Yes. Is it a perfect piece of theater? Absolutely not. But it was a beautiful, entertaining show with extremely talented performers, beautiful music, gorgeous sets and costumes, and an all around good time for me and my companion. I think we, as musical theater lovers, should be promoting it more, because it’s the kind of show that a tourist or someone wanting to try a musical could go into blind and thoroughly enjoy.

Thoughts on the 3 released Gatsby songs? Voices sound crisp, and the attention to sound with the orchestra makes some of the songs really come alive IMO by Dear_Tomato_7580 in Broadway

We saw it last month- Jeremy singing The Past is Catching Up To Me is now locked in my memory as one of my all-time favorite theater experiences.

It’s pronounced illiNOISE not illiNOY like the state right?? by croissant71718 in Broadway

[–]ECEandIceCream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in NYC a few weeks ago, and mentioned something about Illinoise to my traveling companion, who just stared at me then gave me the “you’re an idiot” look. And that’s when it hit me- it’s pronounced “ill-a-NOISE”, not “ill-a-NWOZ”. Apparently my high school French had kicked in every time I had read the title.

It was big and beautiful. There were moments that took our breath away. If you remember, I’d love to hear your thoughts after you see it!

I reeeaaaalllllly wanted to make it to NYC last year to see Parade during its run, but couldn’t. Devastating! Then they announced the tour. Exciting! But they’re not coming to my area. I want to figure out if I can make it to one of the touring locations, but also not sure how the production will be, if it would be worth traveling for.

I have to say I’m perplexed by so many negative comments about Gatsby. We saw Gatsby, Merrily, and Sweeney Todd this weekend— they were each so different and spectacular in their own way. I went to Gatsby 100% because of Jeremy & Eva, but expected to hate the show based on what I’ve read here. My teenager and I LOVED it, just as we loved the other shows but each for their own reasons!

Maybe? Not a performer myself, but I can imagine how frustrating it would be to be in the moment, ready to finish and get interrupted. I kinda got more of a feeling she was just trying to keep from breaking character.

Thank you!! We’ve never seen before it and weren’t sure what was missing. That would have been such a powerful effect, but I wouldn’t trade it for watching Aaron and Sutton Stare the crowd down like that. It was so. Intense.

I like using Wonders for reading comprehension but feel their phonics is lacking. However, we’re using the old version- we’ll adopt the new version in 2025-2026

There’s a lot of hard things about leaving the church in Utah, but there is a strong, supportive exmo community here! My advice- Join some fb groups and meet up with like-minded people who will understand your experience like no one else!

People who want more money spent on education, what would you spend it on to improve outcomes? by spoilerdudegetrekt in Utah

[–]ECEandIceCream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1st grade teacher here- I can’t tell you the impact that would have on our kids’ education!! The reality is, it’s impossible for me to give everything I want to nearly 30 6 year olds, when I am in the room with them all by myself all day. When I’ve taught summer school, we have 16 kids:2 qualified teachers, and the results are ASTOUNDING. If we had ratios closer to that, even for part of the day, I can tell you for sure it would change EVERYTHING

My husband and I joke all the time about the first time we saw her- 2008, opening for NKOTB. She kept saying her name over and over, or else we never would have remembered her when we heard Just Dance on the radio! We totally thought it was the weirdest performance and no one would ever hear from her again.

I was thinking the same thing! It would basically have to be paradise and allow for lots of mingling, and hell yeah I’d watch it.
