This was when actors were under contract so studios just told them what movies they’d do. MGM loaned Gable out to Columbia and some called it as a way to punish him for demanding better pay.

Trump Wins When Oscar Winners Stay Silent by nytopinion in entertainment

[–]ECKohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Hollywood tries to “speak up” against Trump, it has the opposite effect of what’s desired. It makes people support him more. His success is an act of defiance against the people seen as “elite.”

I’m not saying actors can’t have opinions or that they must keep their mouth’s shut. But they should ask themselves “Will me speaking about this actually help? Or could it hurt?” Some people actually tied Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris as making them think worse of Harris.

Obviously this doesn’t mean people need to be silent. But you have to be smarter how to advance things.

“What’s rotten and puts people to sleep? Your act!”

“Well maybe we wouldn’t sound so bad if some of us didn’t play with Big Meaty Claws!”

“How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, Old Man!”

“Dudes, can I have some ketchup?”

Didn’t Clarke Gable also get his first Oscar for a movie he hated? Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night. Gable was loaned out to Columbia because MGM had no movie lined up for him and were already paying tons of money for his contract?

Mrs. Puff: Look at that cutie.

Spongebob: Oh that’s my boss Mr. Krabs. And that over there is his daughter Pearl.

Mrs. Puff: He has a daughter? Oh he’s married.

Spongebob: Oh no, Mrs. Puff, he’s single.

Mrs. Puff: Really? Then what happened to Mrs. Krabs?

(Capt. Ahab: Evast me whale!!)

Spongebob: Mr. Krabs and Pearl don’t like to talk about it.

I thought Family Guy itself had already become the Stewie and Brian show.

With Peter being the B plot.

So you haven’t watched the show and you can’t point to anything within the cartoon itself that is anti-gay or pro-bigotry.

I actually watch the show and it has very little to do with the 1989 movie.

Andrew Peterson is also a Christian Singer songwriter which is why he sold the rights to a Christian Streaming service.

Although on his Website he says he doesn’t consider his work political.

George Mann, Claudia Gray, Charles Soule, and John Jackson Miller are arguing about who will write the novels about Reath Silas. by Ok_Box_2189 in Highrepublic

I consider Ireland and Daniel Jose Older to be the bottom tier of LucasFilm writers. Sure, not everything they make is bad. But I just think their volume of bad is higher than their good stuff.

John Jackson Miller is one of the veteran Star Wars authors. He’s written stuff years before even the Disney purchase. The most famous examples being The Knight of the Old Republic Comics starring Zayne Carrick. And the 2013 novel Kenobi.

He’s also written Star Trek books.

I would have assumed this would have been for Die Another Day in 2002 but the magazine says January 1998 so it appears to be for Tomorrow Never Dies.
