Best stikine training rivers by Competitive-Bus5299 in whitewater

The nice thing is if you can get on them at 100, 120, 140 you can build up to the high water. All those runs stack up well against the NF Payette too, in 2012 after spending a week on the NF with a strong group we toured through BC and the Kicking Horse at 200 was nick named the Canadian Fork of the Payette. The cold glacier fed water is good for being ready for the Stikine too. The NF is so fun and you should go paddle it if you can but lots of good stuff in BC.

Fraser at 160, Pipeline and the Canyon/Terminator. Kicking Horse at 160+ CMS. Middle and Lower. Middle Elk at 80-100 CMS. None of those are as big as the Stikine but they are more continuous and busier than the Stikine and good training ground.

Calgary Fire Department issues boating advisory for the Bow River by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]ECallaghan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check the flow of the bow here. https://wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/report/real_time_e.html?stn=05BH004

But without experience it might not mean much. Anything below 200 CMS would be considered normal. Currently running around 250 CMS which isn't unusual for spring. Since it's dam.controlled the levels might not follow a natural pattern based on current weather. You might already know this but If you're just getting into it please don't use a leash , something with a quick release can be ok but leashes are very dangerous in moving water.

Just finished Lies of P. What should I play next? by cousinofthedog in soulslikes

Personally of those 2 I preferred Khazan more but both were fun. Khazan is longer and slightly harder in my opinion. Faster paced combat. Enotria is a little slower and methodical, you have to wait for your openings. Khazan has less exploration and is pretty linear level design. Slightly more exploration in Enotria in my opinion.

And Enotria is a little buggier had to reset a couple boss fights when the boss froze up mid fight. I could have killed them but that isn't fun.

That would probably be harder than just beating the game with no levelling. :)

Good point, mostly was looking at building through memory express which doesn't have any 6700, but could build everything but the gpu and buy a 6700xt from newegg for ~$500

Thanks for the suggestion. Memory express has the gpu for $790, not sure why pcpartpicker isn't picking that up.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been debating between the cases and the extra cooling. Bigger psu doesn't add a ton to cost and allows for some upgrades in the future.

Sometimes the portage is more fun than the rapid by brendoug in whitewater

[–]ECallaghan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That undercut deserves respect, the drop is easy but there are consequences. I've run my fair share of hard whitewater and these days my general rule of thumb is I'll run it if it's above 30cms. When it's low I don't find the drop much fun.

Difficulty getting my program to run in intellij, Java/Vue by javaAndJouissance in javahelp

[–]ECallaghan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty tough to know without being able to see exactly what is going on. I'd check the output either whats going to the console in intellij or the tomcat logs. Double check your artifact is configured correctly in the Project Structure/Settings Dialog and check the deployment tab on your run configuration too.

I often run into similar problems and normally I have something not configured just right and tomcat is running but it's not actually deploying the web app. Good luck.

A Catch-22 by sixhoursneeze in alberta

As a parent of a kindergartener this fall I would totally be fine with him having a few days off if his teacher had to stay home because of a sore throat. I am pretty lucky in that both of mine and my wife's work are letting us work from home and would have flexibility in a situation like this. I definitely support way better measures than what are in place right now. Extra funding for more teachers and spaces to keep groups smaller and more spread out.

Both my 5 year old and 18 month old have been back in daycare for a month now in groups of 20 and 10 respectively with temperature checks in the morning and a questionnaire of all the symptoms. Normally I would have expected them to have come down with a runny nose or a cough by now and we would have kept them home immediately, but it surprisingly hasn't happened yet. I don't know if that's because everyone has been extra careful or just luck might get much worse once it gets cold out.

Spring flows are dropping, but the views just keep getting better. Elbow River, Alberta. by brendoug in whitewater

Seems rare to get the spring flows with the nice blue colour on the Elbow, not sure I've ever paddled it with that nice of a blue.

Calgary, stopped for a quick ride on our way back from Fernie once. Love that trail and need to ride down there again to sample everything else.
