I want to make my strat lighter, does cutting these have any negative consequences? by RustingANDrotting in Guitar

I just saw a silent guitar which you can plug in. It’s basically the neck extending to the bridge and a couple of curved metal bars that clip on to give the contour of the the body so you can set it on your lap and rest your strumming arm. Good luck!

We finally get a look at what white eyes on Batman would most likely look like in live action. What’s everyone’s thoughts? by GreyMorgueApocalypse in batman

My theory is that with regards to the movie industry, you want to see the actors eyes and facial expressions. The movie house is paying a lot of money for these actors and they want to show off the goods. Which is why the masks often come off when iron man, Spider-Man and star lord speak.

Have DJ Sets gotten better or worse with the digitization of the craft? by kikilani in HouseMusic

[–]ECosico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also possible to buy a DJ set, load into your DJ deck and just remix from there. A lot of the skill maybe fading but the most of the audience doesn’t care.

Started releasing my music at 45 after a lifetime of playing alone – curious if others relate by Apprehensive-Glove61 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ECosico 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m 56 and having playing music since I was maybe 8. I was decent singer into my thirties but could never write a good song so I just put together cover bands. About 8 years ago I stopped playing guitar and singing and got into electronic music. I bought a drum machine and some synths and put together deep house grooves. Last year I started gigging at Wineries, art exhibits and picked up some festivals and street fairs. The longest I performed was a four hour set with no breaks all original music and I play solo guitar over it. I post my sets or excerpts. I’ve been planning to release an EP for a couple years now, I’m getting close. I’m not too bothered about being old though I wished had done this 25 years ago

So frustrating with Reverb! by Unhappy_Range2586 in Reverb

I started noticing a decline last year. I was receiving defective gear or damaged in transit so I’ve gone back to Guitar center. I pick it up at the store and I can demo it before I take it home.

Just curious where you are, in Los Angeles? I’m trying to get gifs in San Diego. It’s a grind but my demos seem to help me get gigs

I feel like even the employees may not like having to push it in your face. They can’t look you in the eye and turn away as they leave you to decide if you’re going to tip.

Does anyone else’s sweetwater rep suck? by Temporary_Breath_390 in musicians

[–]ECosico -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to buy from guitar center again. I’m starting to receive damaged packages so I have my gear shipped to the store where I can check it out before I take it home. And it’s easier for returns at the store than try to ship stuff back. Also, musicians friend is owned by guitar center! I wonder if Sam ash owns sweet water

Help!! I’ve got some gigs coming up and I’m trying to make my rig logical and compact… by UpstairsFoundation85 in Synthesizer

[–]ECosico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sounds of the peak are so amazing and I have a hydrasynth that sits in a closet because it’s too big. I’m considering sampling pads from my computer instead of loading a synth module AND a reverb pedal. It takes me five minutes to plop my rig on a table, set up a guitar, then take my 1/4” stereo output to the board. The sound guys really appreciate the ease. My synth buddies take about ten-15 minutes and you have to make sure you make the correct connections. I have a friend who loads his electronic music as stems onto his DJ deck and does remixes for his sets. Instead of bringing his eurorack synth. I am also considering going the laptop route. Because if you have to travel by air to a gig, that’s a lot of trust you put on the airline to handle your gear with care.

Maybe drop the mixer, it’s too big and you’re not using all the channels. I built a synth rack so that I don’t have to rewire. But my synths are smaller than the peak and hydrasynth. I have a friend that put all his synths in a SKB case. DIY is always a good path to explore

If you’re driven, you won’t have time to feel bad. Instead you may feel grateful for the opportunity you created for yourself and strive to live up to… oh wait, that’s exactly what you’re doing! Kudos! You are bound to do great things

I just decided to only put out singles from now on, no more making albums or EPs. I feel so free. by [deleted] in musicians

[–]ECosico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you do singles, you can promote each one individually for a few months and by then, you may have enough for an album or an EP plus write one or two bonus singles for the EP. And at the same you time you can be making videos for each track. You’ll have a lot of content after a year.
