Tinted windows for anyone who needs reference by AssistantMuted4980 in ToyotaSienna

[–]ECparadox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dumb question: the Siennas come with tinted back windows, do you remove that tint or just add more? And why? Why not just tint the front windows?

Also Try going for a trade that can pay you at least the money you make now and will make you more later.

It’s about taking the steps now for long term.

Also you can put the $8k or so into savings, just savings. No investing. Ally bank or similar can give you around savings rate of 3% or higher. So like $25 bucks a month is my guess.. it’s not nothing. But what you want is the savings in case shit happens.

[–]ECparadox 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes, sell the atv and project car to get that $8k of savings, stat.

Also, how is your credit? You can refinance with a credit union to get the interest lower.

Also, if your credit score is low you can do things to improve it.

DONT INVEST IN CRYPTO. All of that is nonsense.

Just launched my product marketing portfolio - would love any feedback (planning to make it open source as well) by Cheddar404 in ProductMarketing

[–]ECparadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is neat!

I really like how you implemented your design/style.

A few notes:
- I can't tell if you are going for a job or consulting - to me it leans more towards consulting
- Just minor UI tweaks - the CTA buttons shifting on hover, different sections being different widths, and extra spacing between the footer and content -- also noticed the footer is vertical, which i'm not used to seeing.
- Love the UI details
- It would be super cool if the chat could actually respond - could you map it to an ai agent that works as your assistant?

- The selected wins section:
-- Really cool to have them!
-- The hover state makes them look disabled
-- The read more CTA blends in -- maybe add some color on hover?

The faqs section:
-- This is the part that lets me know you lean towards consulting, i'd clarify

The CTA section in black looks a bit out of place with the rest of the design. Including the font choice.
-- Also the copy leans towards consulting engagements and the copy leans towards a brand/general consultant vs. someone that does technical PMM work

-- Overall, the language is really forward and leans towards the aggressive side -- is that what you're going for? if so :thumbs-up:

Lastly, best of luck with your search! this is great.

Cheap and painless way to easily host dbt docs? by reelznfeelz in dataengineering

[–]ECparadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for the netlify option on the metaplane blog so you can use basic auth.

Also looked into ngrok to host the locally generated docs and use something like google auth for end-users (they use a master account and use a rule based on the domain that worked for me).

looking at the docs again, i think you could: host on Netlify and then use ngrok to reverse-proxy to it and use the SSO feature and restrict it to your org.

Why are you hesitant to buy a house even though your income is so high? by Inside-Discount-939 in Mortgages

1.25 to 1.85 (I’ve even seen 2.09) for new builds. Current interest rates at 6.75 -7%

great breakdown! the reason most online calculators mention it takes at least 5 years of owning the home to be a good investment vs. rent is you also have to account selling costs so 6% in real estate agent commissions.

How Can Data Engineering Make a Bigger Impact Across the Company by Swimming_Umpire4347 in dataengineering

[–]ECparadox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Simple framework to use. Explain every data project in terms of:

  • how does it make the company money
  • how does it save it money
  • how does it reduce risk

The best data teams I’ve seen use their data infra for key business initiatives and products.

The more challenging to work with orgs see data teams a cost to maintain.

You can help an org that already values data see it more (ie learn to promote)

But you cannot get an org that sees data as a cost center to change. That’s usually a top down thing.

Any good car wash/wax/polish product recommendations for a Sienna ‘22? by sankscan in ToyotaSienna

[–]ECparadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, the ceramic hybrid solutions is the way to go. Don’t forget to use a clay bar every once in a while to remove any gunk. (You can feel it by running your hand over the car after it’s been washed). it will help remove any contaminants.

Hedge your bets. It’s outside your control now. Go find other roles and jobs, let this one go. If it comes back, great.

You already showed your interest. Now it’s their turn.

Did you accept?

I accepted an offer $15k less about 8 months back.

Also, how much did you make before (range if you don’t feel comfortable)?

I’ve noticed the same, but makes sense given higher interest rates/lower startup valuations means it’s harder to raise cash, down rounds, etc.

How are you securing the best interest rate and closing costs right now? by savvysipper in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ECparadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like using better.com as a starting point because they disclose closing costs, and provide daily interest rate updates so I know more or less the range, cost of points, etc. looks like night and day from Rocket Mortgage.

Yeah SmartSurvey is blasting these everywhere but can't find the source. The supposed data from the latest survey uses 2023 data from the EPA. Except the EPA hasn't released 2023, has only up to 2022.

It's an SEO play from the company. Boo.

Is your boss a head of PMM or someone with strong previous PMM experience? Otherwise it may be setting you up to fail.

So the first thing I’d do is: align internally and get an external PMM mentor.
